Monique is a compassionate leader, a fierce advocate, and a relentless champion for survivors and others navigating some of life's most difficult challenges. She leads with courage and conviction, never hesitating to speak up for the people and programs she believes in. Whether she's helping survivors access safety and stability, advocating for critical resources, or pushing for systems to respond more effectively, Monique brings determination, integrity, and heart to her work.

Her leadership touches countless lives, and we're so grateful for everything Monique brings to YWCA Missoula and our community. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-earned honor!

While October is the month for spreading domestic violence awareness, one local organization works year-round to provide shelter and resources for anyone experiencing abuse.

This Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor the enduring cultures, traditions, and leadership of Indigenous peoples and recognize the deep connections Indigenous communities have to this land.

YWCA Missoula's main office will be closed Monday, October 12, and will reopen Tuesday at 9 a.m. Our crisis line remains open 24/7: 📞 (406) 542-1944.

We encourage everyone to join the Indigenous Peoples' Day celebration at Caras Park, hosted by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. Enjoy dancing, drumming, singing, food, vendors, and cultural celebration. Grand Entry begins at 1 p.m. Free and open to all!

💜 Did you know? YWCA Missoula has a weekly support group for survivors every Tuesday evening.

This confidential, survivor-only group is open to adults who have experienced abuse, control, manipulation, or interpersonal violence. Whether you're newly seeking support or have been on your healing journey for years, you are welcome here.

5:30 PM: Free dinner
6:15 PM: Support group
Children's group available at the same time

If it's your first time attending, please arrive by 6:00 PM.

The group meets at the YWCA Meadowlark, 1800 S. 3rd St. W.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This month (and every month), we commit to uplifting survivor stories, holding perpetrators accountable, and celebrating healthy relationships. Everyone is invited to join us for a community walk on Wednesday, October 21. We'll gather here at the YWCA at 9:30am for coffee, treats, and poster-making. The walk begins at 10:15am; we'll walk together to the Russell Street Bridge, then back to the YWCA. Come out, bring a friend, and wear purple! 💜💜💜

If you've had a sexual experience that didn’t feel fully consensual—whether recently or long ago—and it’s affecting you, you’re not alone. And you deserve support.

YWCA Missoula is offering a free, 10-week support group. This is a space to process and heal from sexual assault, coercion, or non-consensual experiences, and to connect with others who understand.

Group begins September 17th and is *tentatively* scheduled for Thursdays at 6:30 PM.

Want to help shape the future of YWCA Missoula?

We’re looking for up to five new members to join our Board of Directors, with terms beginning in January 2027.

Our board helps guide the programs and services that provide safe shelter, housing support, and vital resources for families experiencing domestic and sexual violence.

We’re especially seeking people with experience in social work, legal or financial fields, communications/PR, and construction/development—but we value a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and skills. If you care about building a safer, more equitable Missoula, we’d love to hear from you.

Board members commit to:
• A three-year term
• Monthly board meetings
• Serving on at least one committee
• Supporting fundraising and community engagement

Applications are due October 16, 2026.

Want to make a real difference in our community?

Our next Volunteer Advocate Training starts September 9—and we’d love to have you join us.

Over four weeks, you’ll get hands-on training in how to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence and families experiencing homelessness. You’ll learn about trauma-informed advocacy, provide support in our emergency shelters, help answer our 24-hour crisis line, support children staying in shelter, and help people navigate resources and next steps.

No previous experience is required. Just a willingness to listen, learn, and show up for others. ❤️

Training runs September 9–October 3:
• Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:30–7:30 p.m.
• Saturdays, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Training is free for incoming YWCA volunteers. Volunteers must be 18+ and willing to complete a background check.

It's almost back-to-school season (!!!), and we're collecting school supplies for kids staying at the YWCA shelters.

Starting a new school year is a big deal for any kid. Having a new backpack, a fresh water bottle, and the supplies they need can help them walk into the classroom feeling prepared and confident.
