The Clark Fork River Market: A Place for Everyone

For 22 years, the has been a gathering place for Missoula’s local food community, connecting farmers, food producers, neighbors, and visitors each week.

The market has also participated in Double SNAP Dollars for 12 years, helping make fresh, local produce more accessible while supporting farmers and vendors.

In our latest Food for All Blog, we’re celebrating the people and programs that make the Clark Fork River Market so special, including a tried and true favorite farmers market recipe!

Do you have cover crop you're looking to mow down?

Want to experiment with green manure or improve your soil health? Our Farmer Tool Library has equipment to help!

The 13 HP Grillo Walk-Behind Tractor + 30” Flail Mower is small and nimble enough to maneuver around a greenhouse, but powerful enough to take down 6-foot sudangrass cover crop. The flail mower’s specialty blades shred dense cover crops into a fine mulch, making it easier to incorporate into your soil later.

The photo above shows the flail mower mulching up some clover cover crop.

The Farmer Tool Library provides affordable equipment access for beginning and historically underserved farmers and ranchers in the Missoula area. Rentals are $25–$100 for 4 days, plus a yearly membership fee of $75 ($55 for CFS graduates).

Want to give it a try? Email [email protected] to learn more or get started!

Is that a Food & Farm Trail Guide we spy, tucked among this week's delicious pastries at Grist?

Now, how did that get there...

Oh, right! It's probably because our friends at Grist are on the Food & Farm Trail, baking up seasonal flavors each week with ingredients from local farms (which you might also spot along the trail!)

✨ This week's lineup:
🥬 Spanakopita with rainbow chard, collards, and kale from Trustland Farm
🥐 Savory Danish with zucchini from the Western Montana Growers Co-op and fennel from Trustland Farm
🍞 Potato Scallion Loaf with scallions from Trustland Farm
🍫 Zucchini Chocolate Loaf Cake & Garlic Scape Cheddar Biscuits, both featuring produce from local farms courtesy of the Western Montana Growers Co-op

Stop by this week to enjoy one of their seasonal specials, support local farms, and don't forget to get your Food & Farm Trail Guide stamped while you're there!
