NorthMPLS.org, the new visitor and resident's guide to North Minneapolis, is the result of conversations with various Northside stakeholders about the need to better unify our community, engage with those outside the neighborhood and build wealth. The West Broadway Coalition is excited to manage this website and for the opportunity to partner with existing and new community partners, residents, bu

sinesses and organizations looking to share their voices and showcase the many assets of North Minneapolis.

Please join Senator Champion’s Office for a special Black History Month film showing at the historic Capri Theater.

Black History Month is a time to reflect, learn, and uplift the stories, contributions, and resilience of Black people past and present. It is an opportunity to come together as a community, honor our shared history, and ensure these stories continue to be told for future generations. 🖤✨

To mark this important month, we are hosting a free community movie night featuring the film Sarah’s Oil, a powerful true story inspired by the life of Sarah Rector, a young African American girl from Oklahoma who became one of America’s first Black female millionaires at just 11 years old. Her story reminds us of the brilliance, perseverance, and impact of Black excellence, even in the face of systemic barriers. 🌟📽️

💜 Prince. The love of Minneapolis.

Born in Minneapolis, Prince Rogers Nelson (1958–2016) was a musical genius and cultural icon who could play 27+ instruments and wrote hundreds of songs across dozens of albums. His sound reshaped music—and his vision reshaped culture.

When building his band, Prince defied the norm by creating what he called a “rainbow” band—men and women, Black and white—reflecting the inclusive, boundary-breaking world he wanted his music to create. He made his solo debut at the Capri Theater in North Minneapolis, not far from where he first learned to play his dad’s piano, alongside André Cymone, Bobby Z., Gayle Chapman, Matt Fink (Dr. Fink), and Dez Dickerson.

A true Northside legend. 🎶💜
