"Step onto historic Bayou Road and into the story of Captain André Cailloux, one of the first Black officers to lead troops in the U.S. Civil War.
"We've Got a Story to Tell" is an hour-long immersive field trip housed in a 115-year-old former church that is now the André Cailloux Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Justice. Led by trained guides and cast members, students move through historically significant spaces on Bayou Road while accessing compelling AR visuals and soundscapes. The experience culminates in a powerful one-man theatrical performance, bringing his presence into the present moment. This is immersive storytelling that converges art, technology, and live performance.
What's included: a historical introduction to Bayou Road, one of the oldest streets in New Orleans; a guided tour of the historic Cailloux Center with AR activations; a 30-minute live theatrical performance about Captain André Cailloux; and a student Q&A with the artists.
Details: approximately one hour. $15 per student, with a 10-student minimum. Box lunch add-on: $13 per student. Two complimentary chaperones per group. Capacity up to 60 participants, with tours at 11:00 AM and an optional slot at 1:00 PM.
