According to the National Restaurant Association, there are more than 8,352 eating and drinking establishments in Louisiana. These establishments are considered the cornerstones of their communities and are highly relied upon to participate in a multitude of philanthropic activities. Annually, the industry contributes more than $7.3 million to Louisiana's economy and is the largest private sector employer in the state with nearly 200,000 residents relying on restaurants for their livelihoods.

Chef Wiley Wilkinson of Delacroix Restaurant welcomed more than 70 attendees to her Cooking Demo session, presented by Fortune Fish & Gourmet and Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits.

Wiley put a Louisiana twist on the classic beignet, preparing a wild catfish beignet with Abita Amber beer batter and Tabasco aioli all while highlighting the importance of Louisiana seafood and local ingredients.

Congratulations to Senator Alan Seabaugh and Representative Raymond Crews on receiving the LRA Advocate of the Year Award, championing the interests of Louisiana's restaurant and hospitality industry through their legislative and regulatory work and advocacy.

Both serve as Chair of the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee for their respective chambers and have done crucial work for the LRA. This year they championed the first steps needed to update the state’s workers’ comp laws, providing clarity and predictability.
