For Rivalry week, we have a Throwback Wednesday ... Pictured here is the 1922-23 Holy Cross College football team.

On this day 100 years ago, October 26, 1922, the first year team of the Holy Cross College football Micks faced the Jesuits College football Blue Jays in an afternoon game at Heineman Park. The Micks were defeated by the Blue Jays 32-0.

The Holy Cross/Jesuit football series has continued non-stop for 100 years. Come on out to Tad Gormley Stadium Friday, Oct. 28th to be part of the continuing history between these two New Orleans high school institutions.

Emmy nominated 🏈 🏆 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗜𝗜 will air this Sunday at 12:30pm CST on WLAE-TV!

𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗜𝗜 begins in 1978 with the first state championship game to be played in the Superdome between Jesuit and St. Augustine. This game was the launching pad for the yearly state football finals to be contested each year at this iconic venue.

The film also covers the dominance of the St. Augustine Purple Knights at the end of the 1970’s, Brother Martin and Holy Cross and the rise of the Shaw Eagles in the 1980’s, the run of the Rummel Raiders in the 1990’s & 2000’s and the return of the state championship trophy to Carrollton and Banks with the Jesuit Blue Jays reclaiming the crown in 2014, more than 50 years since their last state title.

On August 29th 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the City of New Orleans and brought Holy Cross High School to it's knees. Tune in to WLAE-32 Sunday, December 27th at 7:00pm for the premier of Glory Days III to find how Holy Cross Class of '64 football teammates Barry Wilson (Holy Cross head coach) and Vic Eumont (Jesuit head coach) got together in October of 2005 to ensure the Holy Cross/Jesuit gridiron match-up, dating back to 1922, continued.

Former Cor Jesu Kingsmen assistant football coach Bobby Conlin became the head football coach at Brother Martin High School in 1970 and continued in that role for 27 years. Coach Conlin compiled a 204-99-5 record, the most wins for any Catholic League football coach through 2012, and the most for any New Orleans-area coach in Louisiana’s highest classification. Tune in to WLAE-32 on Sunday, December 27 at 7:00PM for the premiere of Glory Days III to find out about Bobby Conlin’s contribution to the success of the Catholic League Of New Orleans.
