FAST FACT FRIDAY!💡

In all 72 Wisconsin counties, families enrolled in the Children's Long-Term Support (CLTS) program and eligible for respite care can choose their own respite provider.

Trusting someone to care for your child with special health care needs can be hard. CLTS gives families options to find respite support that feels like the right fit. 💛

Families can choose a willing and qualified provider through the statewide CLTS provider system or a respite agency.

You can also hire someone you already know and trust! If they are qualified and willing to provide respite, they may be able to be hired directly rather than working through a respite agency.

Have someone in mind? Talk with your Support and Service Coordinator (SSC) about your options and how to get started.

Provider availability and qualification requirements still apply.

School nurses play an important role in helping students feel safe, understood, and supported when accessing healthcare at school- and for Autistic students, small changes in communication, environment, and approach can make a meaningful difference.

For the first time, the Autism Society of Wisconsin is offering our Accessible Healthcare Training specifically for school nurses across Wisconsin!

This virtual training will provide practical information and strategies to help school nurses better understand and support Autistic students and their individual healthcare needs.

Whether you're supporting a student through a routine visit to the health office, navigating communication differences, or helping prepare them for a healthcare experience, our goal is to give you tools you can put into practice right away.
