Today is the FINAL day of our Circle of Strength Crowdfund! 💛

We are INCREDIBLY grateful for every person who has donated, shared, encouraged, and supported this campaign and our program. Because of you, grieving children, teens, and families in our community will continue to have access to connection, support, and hope during some of life’s hardest moments.
Your generosity is truly making a difference and reminding families that they are not alone. Thank you for being part of our Circle of Strength. 💙

⏰ Today is the final day to be part of the Circle of Strength!

Over the past two weeks, our community has come together to support programs that make a real difference for youth and families across the Fox Valley. Your support strengthens:

💙 Connections Grief Center (formerly Center for Grieving Children) – Helping young people and caregivers heal after loss.
💙 Home Base – Supporting youth and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
💙 STAR (Scholars on Target to Achieve Results) – Empowering Black students through mentorship and advocacy.
💙 TRAC (Truancy Reduction & Assessment Center) – Helping youth reconnect with school and opportunity.
💙 Youth & Family Counseling – Providing accessible mental health support for youth and families.
These programs meet families where they are and provide care, connection, and opportunity when it matters most.

There’s still time to make an impact.

💙 Connections Grief Center Takeover Day! 💙

Today we’re highlighting the Connections Grief Center (formerly Center for Grieving Children) as part of our Circle of Strength crowdfund. Through May 6, you can give directly to support this important program 🌟.

Grief can feel overwhelming and isolating—especially for children and teens. 💔 The Connections Grief Center provides safe, compassionate spaces where young people and families navigating loss can share their experiences, connect with others who understand, and begin to heal 🤝.

Through peer support groups and education, youth build healthy coping skills and move from isolation toward resilience, understanding, and hope 🌱✨.

What is Connections Grief Center all about?🌿👐🏻

Some quick facts:

🌿We are one of the only grief centers nationwide that is part of a Boys & Girls Club.

🌿Our Family Night program meets twice each month and offers small-group peer support for littles (ages 3+), elementary, middle school, and high school students, and their parents/caregivers.

🌿Our in-school grief groups offer students the opportunity to connect with peers who have also experienced loss during the school day.

🌿Our "Sprouts & Changes" groups take place at Boys & Girls Club locations and are centered around universal losses (divorce, moving, changing schools, loss of a pet, incarceration, etc.)

🌿We offer outreach and training to organizations within the community that would like to know more about grief and loss and/or work with children and youth.

🌿Our new name (Connections Grief Center) was chosen because we love to see the connections formed between those who visit our Center and witness how this helps them navigate the challenges and pain of grief. It also maintains our strong roots as the "CGC".

✨ Big impact. Growing reach. Stronger connections. ✨

Last year, Connections Grief Center had the honor of reaching 910 youth🩵
That’s an 88% increase from the year before (485 youth)!

Because of expanded outreach, stronger school partnerships, and deeper connections within our Clubs and surrounding communities, we are reaching more young people and families than ever before! Each number represents a child who didn’t have to navigate grief alone.

We truly cannot do this work without the generosity of our community 🙏

As part of our Circle of Strength crowdfund, we invite you to be part of this impact. Every gift helps us continue showing up for youth who need support, healing, and connection 🌱🦋

Today marks the start of the Circle of Strength crowdfund, and we’re honored to be part of it.

At Connections Grief Center, we walk alongside children, teens, and families navigating grief and loss. Through peer support groups and safe, supportive spaces, participants are able to share their stories, connect with others, and begin to heal.

No one should have to face grief alone.

From April 22–May 6, you can support this work and help ensure that compassionate care continues to be available in our community.

💧 Saying Goodbye & Letting Go 💧

In our recent school-based grief group, we spent time honoring both goodbyes and transitions.

Using a clear bowl of water and water-soluble paper, students were invited to write something they felt ready to let go of, or something they wanted to say goodbye to in their grief. One by one, they placed their paper into the water and watched as the words gently dissolved.

This activity offered:
• A tangible way to release heavy feelings
• A reminder that letting go doesn’t mean forgetting
• A moment of shared reflection and respect

It was also a meaningful way to say goodbye to one another, as this was our final group session. Grief doesn’t end when a group does, but connection, skills, and support carry forward.

We are honored to walk alongside students as they find their own ways to remember, release, and move forward, at their own pace.
