The MSCS School Board just approved its last district budget before the takeover board goes into effect.

Our locally elected board members voted on a $1.7 billion budget focused on teacher retention, school repairs, and student supports.

The state-appointed board is preparing to take control over final budget decisions for the next four years, but we don’t know yet if the takeover board will be able to change anything about this budget.

Stay tuned for more developments and read the full article here:

This year’s annual MSCS budget will likely be the last that local board members pass before the state takeover. It’s unclear whether the oversight board will have a say in approving the budget.

Powerful launch of The Playbook today!

Built from the voices and research of young adults through the "My Voice, Our Choice" YPAR project, The Playbook turns lived experience into practical strategies for reducing barriers, building trust, and making systems easier to navigate for the more than 27,000 young adults who are disconnected from education and employment opportunities in Shelby County.

Today's interactive workshop brought together organizations, frontline staff, and young leaders from across Shelby County to learn how to use this research to think more intentionally about creating programs and services that are more accessible and responsive to young people.

Huge thank you to everyone who showed up and contributed to the conversation, and to the young people who dedicated so much time and energy to creating The Playbook!

Tony Carruthers' ex*****on is scheduled for next Thursday, May 21, but there are major gaps in his case: he was convicted without physical evidence, the fingerprints and DNA from the scene don't match his, AND he was forced to represent himself in his trial.

Make sure to sign the petition to stop this wrongful ex*****on before Monday 5/18! bit.ly/tonycarruthers

Even though Republican lawmakers approved maps that crack Memphis into three congressional districts, we’re still here - and we're still fighting back.

These maps were designed to sow chaos and confusion, divide Memphis communities, and dilute Black voting power. But knowledge is power, and it's more important than ever to stay informed.

Use our new tool to find out which district you're in now, see how far your district stretches into middle TN, and stay ready for the fights ahead: bit.ly/FindNewDistrict901
