A fantastic evening for baseball. Appreciation to Post 235 champions and District Commander volunteering for ticket sales and enthusiastically supporting the team. A fun time was enjoyed, relationships were strengthened, and patriotism was evident. District 20 Commander Alesia Bell was featured as “Veteran of the Game”.

“Duty, Honor, Country” 🫡🇺🇸👏

That’s how to describe today’s 2nd annual Town of Matthews Veterans Memorial Park Cleanup.

In coordination with the Town’s Parks and Recreation Department, Troop 46, and The Matthews Veterans Advisory Committee many hands spruced up the park planting new natural trees and florals to maintain its beauty.

Working together continues to prove the "Our Town, Our Vision" motto and why Matthews is a great place to live.

Post 235 members were honored guests at the Matthews Butler High School JROTC awards ceremony. What a privilege to witness such dedication, service and patriotism of each of these cadets.

Their achievements in academic, sports and Drill competitions were admirable and received high statewide & national awards. Commander Wilfong had the privilege of pinning American Legion awards to two deserving cadets.

These Butler HS JROTC cadets give confidence and hope to our country, communities, and families.

UPDATE: Junior Legion game tonight is canceled due to weather. The game will be moved to this Monday at 4:00. Additionally, Junior Legion game tomorrow is also canceled and will be rescheduled to June 7th at 4:00.
