Recently I shared some honest thoughts with a friend: "Sometimes the pain of today feels like a declaration of what my whole future will look like. I just can't see how this will ever change or get better."

I knew I needed to press in to God with my doubts.

I had a choice: I could stay stuck, cycling through my doubts and fears, or I could surrender to the only One who is safe enough to help me process them. So I opened my hands as I declared out loud:

Lord, today I resist the pressure to try to figure out that difficult situation I so desperately want fixed. I resist the desire to control, the temptation to panic and feel like it all depends on me. I resist the pull toward focusing on all that another person is doing wrong. And I resist dwelling on worst-case scenarios.

Tonight I will stand outside during sunset, and as the light drops into the horizon, I will watch what You put on display. I will see what You can do with a mix of light and darkness.

And I will remember why I am not afraid of the light going away at sunset — because it will not stay dark forever.

I know how magnificent it will be when You bring the light back tomorrow morning. I know the sun will rise because You faithfully show us that over and over and over.

The God who makes the sun rise is the same God to whom I can safely release all I am holding on to. God, I know You see all of it. I know You know what to do with it. I trust You to guide me. I will do my part, and I will let You handle the rest.

Friend, I don’t know what’s going on in your life right now, but God does. Please know it’s OK to hand all of your doubts over to Him as you simply take a deep breath and soak in the reality of who He is. And if you’re having a hard time putting words to how you feel, you can borrow my prayer today.

I love that Jesus gives His personal attention to the bent and broken. He notices suffering that others miss. No pain, grief, or season of brokenness goes unseen by Him.

If you’re where I was, can I remind you?

Bring your whole story to Jesus. There will never be a time when He doesn’t want all the pieces of your broken heart.

Let yourself listen past the deafening pain for the voice of your Messiah. His voice reaches us on a soul level, bringing freedom and filling us with hope.

We are seen by the same Savior who saw our sister all those years ago. If we had been in that synagogue, He would have stopped for us too.

When the story we’re carrying looks nothing like the one we had planned, His voice, gentle and full of healing, calls us to come closer. Lean in and listen closely for the kind voice of a Savior who saw a broken woman that day, who saw me in that dimly lit sanctuary, and who sees you now. May we trust Him with every piece of our story.

He is writing something beautiful.

If you’ve been feeling a stirring in your Spirit about a decision or transition you have to make, pray this quick prayer before you head to bed tonight:

Lord, tonight as I head to bed, I feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. I know you’re doing something new in me, and I know it may require me to take a big step into the unknown. I want to walk by faith, and not fear. Give me wisdom, timing, courage, and provision for wherever I’m headed next. Let Your voice be louder than the fear or uncertainty of not having all the answers right now. Keep my heart pure and anchored in You. Amen.

I suspect many of us have things in our lives that feel impossible. Maybe you just got some bad news. News of an impossible situation involving finances, a job, your kid, a friend, or your health.

You may feel like you’re spiraling, like you want to take control to achieve a different outcome. You may be wondering how God could let this happen. Trust me when I say I understand. Whatever news you just got or will get, I pray Shaunti’s note helps you, too.

That is news.

And this is God’s Truth:

I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE.
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6, NIV).

I AM FOREVER FAITHFUL.
“He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them — he remains faithful forever” (Psalm 146:6, NIV).

I AM WITH YOU.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10, NIV).

I AM HOLDING YOU.
“Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand” (Psalm 73:23, NIV).

I AM YOUR HIDING PLACE.
“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7, NIV).

Of course, I still have those less spiritually secure moments when I feel like I’m going to lose my mind. And cry. And doubt that God will bring about good from what feels impossibly hard. But He will.
I don’t know what the future holds, but I know how thankful I am for the Great I AM. The One who will absolutely “Guide me in [His] truth and teach me” (Psalm 25:5a, NIV).

I love you, sweet friend. And I’m praying for you today. Praying that every time the word impossible creeps up and starts to steal your hope, you will see the words I’m-Possible and hold on to Him.

I know what it's like to be exhausted from trying to solve everyone else's problems.

To carry the weight of responsibility for the people around you...

To spiral with fear and anxiety about how things are going to play out...

Or even to struggle to accept a situation that isn't turning out the way you hoped it would...

Maybe you can relate.

Friend, I know what it's like to try to figure it all out on your own, swaying between taking control and spiraling when your efforts don't yield the results you want.

Here’s the hard truth: our desire for immediate relief often leads us to force outcomes rather than trusting God’s plan.

But God is inviting us to shift from a mindset of frantic control to one of peaceful stewardship.

Behind every resource we create, there’s a real story of God’s Word meeting someone right where they are— including our own team!

We asked a few of our staff members to share which devotions, studies, books, and posts met them in the middle of real-life moments. And every single story pointed back to the same truth: when decisions felt heavy, life felt overwhelming, and they just needed steady direction, God’s Word gave them the exact guidance and peace their hearts were searching for.

Friend, you can help another woman experience that same hope and clarity. When you partner with Proverbs 31 Ministries, your gift places practical, Scripture-rooted guidance straight into the hands of women navigating relationships, finances, hard decisions, and daily fears.
