TLDR: Please support Scouting For Food https://nourishup.org/events/SFF2026/
The scouts of Mecklenburg County Council normally distribute Scouting For Food doorhangers a week before the food drive to collect food donations for Nourish Up, but because of the excessive snow this weekend it's going to be difficult to get the word out, so we're asking for your help.
1) please share this with your friends on social media to help get the word out
2) if you'd like to help with a donation, please go to https://nourishup.org/events/SFF2026/ for more information. You can donate financially online or bring food donations to a drop-off location next weekend (days and times listed in the link) .
This food drive timing is important, because there tends to be a drop-off in donations after the holidays, but food donations are needed year-round.
Thanks for your attention and support.
Troop 139
Scouts are now distributing Scouting for Food door tags (modeled here by our friends at WCNC Charlotte!) in neighborhoods across Mecklenburg County and will continue placing them over the coming days.
If you receive a door hanger, simply fill a bag or box with non-perishable food items and leave it outside your home by 9:00 a.m. for pick up on Saturday, Feb. 7 as planned.
If you don’t receive a door hanger, you can still help fight hunger:
• Text SCOUT4FOOD to 50155 to make a financial donation
• Visit nourishup.org/events/SFF2026 to see a list of locations where you can drop off food donations on Saturday, Feb. 7, or Sunday, Feb. 8.
Thank you Harris Teeter for providing the essential Scouting for Food door hangers!
