Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee leads the community in the fight to end hunger. For more information, please visit secondharvestetn.org.

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, a member of Feeding America, has worked to compassionately feed people facing hunger since 1982. In FY21, Second Harvest distributed 22 million pounds of food across 18 East Tennessee counties. Through feeding programs and 630+ nonprofit partners, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee provides food to more than 142,000 children, adults and seniors each month.

It’s true what they say, goat is the greatest of all time! While visiting with one of our farm partners, Crooked Road Farm & Stoneground Milling, we got to hear first hand why goat meat is so popular. The lean meat is very similar to beef, and is packed with essential amino acids. Goat meat is also both culturally and religiously important across a large portion of the world! 🌎

Happy Wednesday! We’re starting off the day with a staff spotlight! ✨Meet Kendra:

Kendra Lindsay has been serving East Tennessee as a staff member of Second Harvest since 2022 - 4 years! - and currently works as our Agency Relations and Food Rescue Manager. In this role, she is responsible for creating relationships with retailers, food pantries, churches, and more: the boots on the ground for our food bank!

Fun fact about Kendra: “I met President Bill Clinton and General Colin Powell.”

It's National TN Day! 🧡 At Second Harvest, we're working hard to preserve green spaces in our state by partnering with local farms. Darrel and Doris Stratton Tomatoes and Greenhouse in Grainger County grows some of the best tasting tomatoes in the country, and it's important to us that our neighbors continue to have access to high quality produce for years to come. 🍅
