♻It's Waste Disposal Wednesday! Keep Blount Beautiful shares waste disposal resources on Wednesdays to facilitate awareness on disposal of different types of waste.♻

Plastic bags are not a # 1 or # 2 plastic, so they cannot be recycled in Blount County. However, UT's Public Recycling Drop-Off, as well as some grocery stores, accept plastic bags for recycling.

We are so excited to announce that Heritage High School and Heritage Middle School have joined the Aluminum Can Recovery Program! ♻️ You can participate by collecting your used aluminum cans and depositing them into the collection trailer parked in front of Heritage Middle School.

Don’t live near Heritage? We also have trailers at Samuel Everett School of Innovation, Friendsville Elementary School, and Carpenters Middle School by the football field! 👍 (Please note that there is no longer a collection trailer located at Walland Elementary School).

♻ Funded by Arconic Foundation, the Aluminum Can Recovery Program recovers aluminum cans for recycling by providing drop-off points at local Blount County Schools. The program aims to increase community engagement in recycling, divert waste from the Blount County Landfill, recover materials that contribute to a closed-loop recycling system, and promote a circular economy by supporting local manufacturing’s use of used aluminum cans in their operations.

♻ HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Residents can dispose of their used aluminum cans in the collection trailer at the participating school in their community. Learn more at CansForBlount.org.

The Greatest Green Brown Creek Workday is October 10th, and volunteers are needed! We plan to remove litter from Brown Creek near downtown Maryville and plant native perennials on the creek side. 🌼🌼🌼This event is a great chance to put on some waders and/or get your hands dirty! 😄

🌟If you have not been to the Blount County Recycling Center before or want to know more about recycling in Blount County, don’t miss the Blount County Recycling Center Tour on Monday, October 5th! 🌟

Meet us at the Blount County Highway Department at 3 PM for a tour of Blount County’s household recycling, household hazardous waste, and glass recycling operations. This event is open to the public and all ages are welcome. ♻
