NOTICE: Over the past week we have experienced a technical problem with taking credit card purchases from our website (www.blountcotnhistory.org). This was NOT a data breech, and your credit card information has always been secured. The link between our website and the bank was not connecting and the payments were never processed. This issue has now been resolved, but any purchases made during the time in question may need to be resubmitted. If you have made an on-line payment during this period and are uncertain if it was properly processed, please email us at [email protected] and we will verify the status of your purchase. We value your continued patronage of our organization and apologize if this causes you any inconvenience.

On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, we celebrate Veterans Day in honor of those who served in the military. As many of you know, the November 11th date was chosen in recognition of the ending of hostilities in the Great War which was later known as World War I. The Blount County Genealogical and Historical Society has set up a display in the reference section of the Blount County Public Library that includes photographs of area soldiers that served during that war and a restored Maryville Times newspaper that proclaimed the end of the war. We invite everyone to remember all those who served and to come by and see our display.
