Saturday, Saturday, April 15, 2023 9:00 AM- 12:30 PM. “Smart Bicycling Skills for Adults (16+),” presented by the Jeff Roth Cycling Foundation, using the League of American Bicyclist Smart Cycling Program. This course combines online instruction with parking lot and on-road practice of vehicular bicycling and crash avoidance principles.
The Course location: Outdoor Knoxville by Legacy Parks, 900 Volunteer Landing Lane, Knoxville, TN 37915
Whether you are a new bike rider or experienced this class can help with your confidence on your bike and with riding more safely. The Jeff Roth Cycling Foundation covers the registration cost, which includes a League of American Cyclist Quick Guide Booklet that outlines all of the information you need to ride safely and confidently. The class has 3 parts, a short classroom, followed by on the bike handling skills in the parking lot, and ending with a short ride in downtown Knoxville.
This class covers:
-basic bike & helmet fitting
-the most common types of bicycle crashes and how to avoid them
-basic traffic laws and rules of the road
-proper hand signals
-how to position yourself on the road
-how to handle intersections
-basic bike-handling drills
-short road ride in downtown Knoxville, TN
This class will improve bicycle handling skills and knowledge of how to ride safely.
All participants must have a bike in good working order with white front light and rear red light or reflector. Proper fitting bike helmets are required. A full water bottle is recommended.
