The main purpose and the reason the Rescue Mission exists is to fulfill the great commission as outlined by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19 and 20.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son More than a half century ago Martinsburg’s business, church, and community leaders saw a need: provide for the homeless. They joined together and in 1960 opened the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission. The mission has been caring for the homeless ever since. The mission serves three meals a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, to anyone who needs a meal, and provides shelter and support for men who would otherwise have no home.

For years, Pastor Bruce of New Beginning Full Gospel Church ran from his calling, feeling broken and struck down in life. But God meets us even in the darkest places—turning a cry for help into a journey of redemption, restoration, and purpose.

Today, he serves as a pastor and brings hope to others at the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission because they recognize he is one of them.

Watch his incredible story of grace and transformation, and see how hope lives here.

📖 What we fill our hearts with shapes how we live each day.

“But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.” — Psalm 1:2

In the middle of busy schedules, difficult decisions, and uncertain seasons, this verse invites us to pause and spend time with God. When we carry His Word into our daily lives, we give its truth room to shape our thoughts, guide our choices, and deepen our love for others.

At the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission, the hope of Jesus Christ is at the heart of our ministry. As we care for our neighbors, we want each person to know that they are loved by God and that their life has value. Scripture helps ground that work in compassion, patience, and faithfulness.

Today, take a few quiet minutes to read a passage, pray over it, and consider how you can put it into practice. Carry it with you into a conversation, a challenge, or an opportunity to show kindness. 🧡

What Bible verse has been encouraging you lately? Share it in the comments—your favorite Scripture might be the encouragement someone needs today.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Doug Catrow. Doug was a faithful supporter of the Mission, serving on our board and paving avenues for many parts of our ministry that exist today. We pray for the Catrow family and the CenterPoint Bible Church family as they mourn his loss.

This video is one of the first videos Pastor Tim shot when he arrived at the Mission. It shows the true wit and humor Doug brought to everything he did. (The video has been updated with the current address for CenterPoint and the current service times) .

This is a re-upload one of the very first videos we ever filmed at ...
