Celebrating Juneteenth Together
To all the incredible performers who graced the stage at our Juneteenth celebration, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation. Your talent, passion, and dedication brought life, joy, and meaning to this special occasion. The choirs, Ebenezer & Mt Zion Church Combined Gospel Choir, L.O.V.E. Church Worship Team, (Solomon you sound like John Legend), The Youth Choir/Praise Dance Team from Spread the Word Full Gospel Church and soloist Antoinette Creamer were great. Thanks to Patrick Green, who helped fill the last-minute cancellation with Sean Sarvis, who came from D.C.

Juneteenth is a day to honor resilience, freedom, and community, and each of you played a vital role in making this celebration unforgettable. Whether through music, dance, or the spoken word, your performances moved hearts, inspired minds, and reminded us all of the profound importance of this day in history.
Your energy and artistry not only entertained but also educated and united us as a community. The emotions you shared left an indelible mark on everyone present. You reminded us that the fight for freedom and equality is a story worth telling, celebrating, and continuing. We are so grateful for your time, effort, and the love you poured into your performances. You helped us create a space of celebration, reflection, and connection that will linger in our memories for years to come.

We must find and continue to explore ways to engage those who are currently uninvolved in shaping their future and that of their grandchildren. You cannot keep waiting for others to continue to STAND FOR YOU. YOU TAKE A STAND. I learned long ago that if you want to have a voice, get a seat at the table. β€œIf there are no chairs, bring your own.”

Thanks to the committee who worked hard and met weekly for the last several months. Thanks to our sponsors through their monetary gifts, thanks to Leonard who has shown me the importance of being involved in the community, to make a change. Most importantly, thank God for guidance and strength.

Thank you all for making this Juneteenth event a true celebration of culture, history, and togetherness. We look forward to seeing you on stage again soon!
With gratitude,
Helen
