Let's Talk About It

If someone keeps signing up for your classes but has an excuse for not attending when the class or other events arrive, would you ask them not to sign up for any more? How many times would be acceptable for them to not show up before you reach your limit and say something?

Unless you're sick or something has happened with a family member, I don't accept excuses. When classes/workshops are hosted, they aren't free. They may be free to you, but it's costing the person hosting the workshop or me. Handouts have to be made and printed (they cost money); normally, I purchase water and pizza (they cost money). Most importantly, someone is taking the time to lead the class.

If you're a business person, you should know this. If you're an adult without a business, you should know this. If you sign up, show up. Leaving people hanging is not cool. That kind of behavior is disrespectful, rude, and inconsiderate to me.

Most importantly, it causes people to see you as unreliable. It's a label earned because you don't bother to show up. Who wants to wear that label?

Let's discuss not notifying the person hosting the class that you can't make it because you have an emergency or nothing has come up. You don't even have enough respect to say you're not coming. You just go about your day like it's no big deal.

I decided years ago that being unreliable doesn't look good on me. I'm particular about what I wear, clothing and character. I want people to know that I'm true to my word; they can count on me and look to me to be there for future endeavors. This is what I taught my daughter, and I am currently instilling in my grandchildren.

Where do you stand on this topic? Let's Have a Conversation!

It's Mission in Motion, shout-out to the wonderful community member who donated this brand-new microwave to our food pantry/kitchen.

It will come in handy for heating lunches, my unfinished coffee, and helping with meal prep for our community dinners.

Thank you for the blessing! I couldn't do it without your and the other community members' help.

It's Workshop Wednesday

Shout-out to my sister and life coach, Holmes-Lindsey, from on the Ground Youth Leadership Academy, for conducting our Women's Empowerment Workshop.

I'm a true believer in gaining as much knowledge as I can during my journey. Why? Because knowledge is power. My mother and father were big on education; learning wasn't an option. It simply had to be done so you could become the best person that you could be.

When you have knowledge, nobody can take it from you. It becomes innate, a part of your DNA. We as women need to learn that we can bring our own food to the table.

Getting from A to Z takes work. Are you empowered to be successful on your journey?
