Helping to shape the young people of today into the leaders of tomorrow for over 50 years.

Scouting, one of the traditional membership divisions of the BSA, is available to boys and girls who have earned the Arrow of Light Award or have completed the fifth grade, or who are 11 through 17 years old. The program achieves the BSA's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness qualities among youth by focusing on a vigorous program of outdoor activities. The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations that offers effective character, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth. Specifically, the BSA endeavors to develop American citizens who are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit; have a high degree of self-reliance as evidenced in such qualities as initiative, courage, and resourcefulness; have personal values based on religious concepts; have the desire and skills to help others; understand the principles of the American social, economic, and governmental systems; are knowledgeable about and take pride in their American heritage and understand our nation's role in the world; have a keen respect for the basic rights of all people; and are prepared to participate in and give leadership to American society.

Our Halloween Party was a blast! What’s not to love about, games, candy, costumes, candy, more candy and cake! Did we mention candy?

This weekend our scouts tackled The Last of Us camporee at Adventure Point - Grand Rapids. Climbing, Backpacking Races, shelter building, first aid demos and more were all on the menu. At the end of the night was a 200+ scout game of “zombie flashlight tag”!

Don’t forget the outing isn’t done until everything is dried and put away properly!

We want to say a HUGE thank you to all the AOLs that came to the Open House on Thursday! We had a great turnout and had an outstanding night of activities! Thank you to all our scouts and leaders who helped make this possible!

MILO DOES IT AGAIN! At tonight’s meeting, he was recognized for earning his well-deserved LIFE rank. Next stop…Eagle! Congratulations Milo!

We held our elections this evening. Congratulations are in order to our new leadership. MILO who takes the reins as our new Senior Patrol Leader. He is flanked by his Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders JOSEPH (left) and MAX (right). Troop 1589 is in good hands!

During a recent crisis, someone was injured. Fortunately for them, our Scout MILO was on scene to provide comfort and assistance to the person in need utilizing the skills he learned in Scouting.

In recognition of Milo’s actions, Michigan Crossroads Council, Scouting America
representative Tim Woodcox joined us tonight to present Milo with a special certificate of merit.

Milo is an excellent example of the kind of citizens and leaders that Scouting strives to put out into the world! Great job Milo!
