A friendly reminder that the Fran Anderson Scholarship application period closes on March 5, 2026.
Fran Anderson Michigan PTA Scholarship Application is Open!
The Fran Anderson Michigan PTA Scholarship was created to recognize high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership and advocacy through their participation in PTA.
A minimum of one $1,000 scholarship is awarded each year, and additional scholarships and/or scholarships of varying amounts are awarded based on available funds. Please share this with students who have been active in PTA/PTSA!
The late Fran Anderson, former Michigan PTA President, consistently demonstrated the highest level of advocacy for all children, and her leadership continues to have a positive impact on Michigan PTA. To honor her many years as a champion for children, the scholarship was named after her.
Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee comprised of Michigan PTA Past Presidents based on the following criteria: PTA/PTSA involvement, essay, community service, additional activities, academics, and letters of recommendation.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑💙✨ A Message From PTA’s President: Together Again in 2026 📅🤝🎉
I’m excited to share that registration for the 2026 PTA Convention is officially open! This year’s theme, “Together Again: PTA Lights the Way for Every Child,” is especially meaningful to me. It marks the first time we’ll be together IN ONE ROOM since 2022. While virtual connections have been important, there’s nothing like seeing you face-to-face—that’s what I love most about convention. After all, PTA is all about relationships.
And as if being together again weren’t exciting enough, I’m thrilled to announce that Al Roker will be our keynote speaker. Many of you know him from NBC’s Today, but he’s also an author and a passionate advocate for individuals with special needs, inspired by his journey as the parent of a son with autism.
We’ll be sharing more updates about workshops and speakers in the months ahead, but for now, registration is open, and I encourage you to reserve your spot today at PTA.org/Convention.
Join us in Pittsburgh, June 18-20—I can’t wait to see you there.
📚🎒✏️🧠📖👧🏽🧒🏻🏫🌈✨

It's a busy and exciting week for Michigan PTA leaders! Don't forget to join us tomorrow, Thursday, November 13, at 7:00 PM for our next PTA Power Hour, "Sunshine Funds: How to Help Those in Need and Maintain Tax-Exempt Status," with Treasurer Sandy Winkler—a timely session as we head into the holiday season. And great news — we've just added a new Saturday morning session, November 15 at 10:00 AM, on "PTA Leadership Amid Growing Food Insecurity," also led by Sandy, to help PTAs address increasing community needs through advocacy and partnership.

Plus, we're thrilled to share some exciting news — Michigan PTA has officially moved into our new office space in Farmington Hills! 🎉 We can't wait to welcome you at our Open House on Saturday, December 6, where you'll be able to tour the new space, meet our Board, connect with other PTA leaders, and celebrate this next chapter together.
