📢 IMPORTANT ABWA MEETING UPDATE! OCTOBER MEETING CANCELED 📢

Due to the recently announced political rallies scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule our upcoming ABWA meeting, originally scheduled for 6:00 PM.

With both rallies taking place near our meeting location and an estimated 30,000 attendees expected in the area, we anticipate significant traffic congestion, parking challenges, and delays. Additionally, several of our members and anticipated guests have plans to attend these events, which would significantly impact our anticipated turnout.

As this meeting was originally planned to be our Recruitment Event, we want to ensure that as many current and prospective members as possible have the opportunity to attend and experience everything ABWA has to offer!

Our Recruitment Event will now take place at our November meeting! We are excited to use this opportunity to welcome new faces, showcase our organization, and celebrate the amazing community of professional women we are building.

We sincerely apologize for the last-minute change and appreciate everyone's understanding and flexibility.

We look forward to seeing everyone in November for an even bigger and better Recruitment Event!

✨ September Member Spotlight: Dr. Lynn M. Brinckmeyer ✨

This month, Lubbock Area Lights is proud to spotlight Dr. Lynn M. Brinckmeyer — an accomplished educator, conductor, author, mentor, and lifelong advocate for music education. 🎶

Dr. Brinckmeyer retired from Texas State University, where she served as Professor of Music, Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication, and Director of Choral Music Education. Her career has taken her across 49 states and more than 25 countries, where she has conducted honor and all-state choirs, presented master classes, lectured, and performed.

She has published five books, contributed to four others, served as President of the National Association for Music Education, and spent 16 years as a staff member for World Music Drumming workshops. Most recently, she joined the Ultimate Music Theory team as Associate Director of Education.

And if that résumé was not impressive enough, in May 2026, Dr. Brinckmeyer conducted a performance of the Rutter Gloria at Carnegie Hall! ✨

Today, Lynn continues to mentor music teachers, students, and professionals around the world as a Life Mastery Certified Coach and Consultant. She especially loves calling the Lubbock area home because it brings her closer to her children and their families. ❤️

A few fun facts you may not know: Lynn has ridden a donkey in Argentina, a camel in Morocco, and an elephant in China! 🌎

We are so excited to celebrate Dr. Lynn Brinckmeyer and the incredible experience, leadership, and passion she brings to ABWA Lubbock Area Lights!
