Mission 2540 Lubbock

Mission 2540 Lubbock Mission 2540 is a non-profit 501(c)3 apartment ministry serving families in multi-housing units. We work to meet their physical, spiritual, and emotional needs.

Mission 2540 began in Amarillo in 2004, and now we get to build this ministry together in LBK!

What a week at Kids Club!

This week, we learned from Acts 16:16–34 about Paul and Silas choosing to pray and praise God even when they were going through something difficult. Their story reminded us that when we pray, God builds our faith—especially in the hard moments.

At Madison Park, we celebrated a birthday, played a fun balloon game to introduce our lesson, and then gathered in small groups to read and talk through the Bible story together.

At Cameron Court, our volunteers brought the story to life with a skit! The kids were into it for the second week in a row—and they’re already asking when they can be in the next skit. Volunteers got some small group time at Cameron Court too!

Bonus fun this week: everybody made DIY squishies! 😄

Volunteer Spotlight: Janelle 💛

Janelle and her daughter have been serving together at Madison Park for about 15 months, and we are SO grateful for them! Janelle is a behind-the-scenes superhero who quietly makes a big impact. You’ll often find her sitting one-on-one with a kid, playing a game, working on a craft, or simply taking the time to listen and build a relationship.

When asked what she loves most about serving with Mission 2540, Janelle said she loves that it challenges her to get out of her comfort zone—and she especially loves the relationships she gets to build along the way.

We love that! Sometimes serving looks like stepping outside of what feels comfortable and simply saying, “I’m here. I see you. I want to know you.”

Janelle, thank you for faithfully showing up, loving these kids, and making a difference in the little moments. We are so thankful you’re part of Mission 2540!

At the end of July, I had the opportunity to go to Camp Awesome with Mission 2540 Amarillo kiddos. They call it Camp Awesome because it is! I had the best time sweating it out with my group of girls.

I also got to connect with some teenagers who have grown up in Mission 2540 and they now attend camp as leaders. They told me how being a part of Mission 2540 changed the direction of their lives.

I hope invites me back next summer! I am already praying and dreaming about what Camp Awesome could like for our Lubbock kids in 2027! Please pray with me!

Kids' Club Weekly Recap!

We had a lot of kids at Kids Club this week!

We kicked off our lesson on forgiveness with a game: squeeze all the toothpaste out of the tube…then try to get it all back in the tube in ONE MINUTE! Spoiler alert: it was impossible and VERY messy!

It gave us a great picture of how our words and actions can be like toothpaste. Once our words are out, we can’t take them back. We all make messes with our words and actions sometimes and need forgiveness—and we also need to learn to forgive others when they hurt us.

Our Bible story from Matthew 18:21–35 reminded us of this truth: We can forgive others because God has forgiven us. ❤️ And this week, we brought the story to life with a skit! The kids absolutely loved it.

Volunteer Spotlight: Ayven 💛

Ayven Archer is the kind of teenager you want your kids to look up to. She has such a natural gift for connecting with kids, and we are so grateful for the way she consistently shows up and serves at Cameron Court!

Here’s what Ayven has to say about serving with Mission 2540:

“My favorite part about serving with Mission 2540 are the relationships I get to form with the kids. Every Wednesday I look forward to hanging out with the kids, doing crafts, and all the fun conversations I get to be a part of with each one of them. Each kid has such a big light that all shines in its own way, and I am more than blessed to be a witness to their light and watch how they grow each week!”

How awesome are these kids on our SNACK SQUAD?!?!

Every couple of weeks, we pack about 100 snack bags to take to the kids we serve at our apartment communities. And this is a perfect way for families with young kids to get involved together! 🥨🧃 It’s a simple way to teach little hearts what it looks like to love and serve others.

We had a great week at Kids' Club! 🎉 We played games, celebrated a birthday, and learned the most important truth: Jesus rescues us!

To kick off our lesson, each small group received a bag of supplies and a mission: rescue their team’s Sour Patch Kid!

Our leaders shared the Gospel with colors and the kids made a bracelet--giving our kids a fun, hands-on way to hear and remember the good news of Jesus.

🌟 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: JAKE! 🌟

Jake is one of those people who makes serving look easy because his servant’s heart is unmatched.

For about 15 months, Jake has faithfully volunteered with Mission 2540. For a long time, he was the guy behind the scenes making sure all the supplies and snacks made it to Kids Club—and he still faithfully shows up week after week to invest his time into the kids we serve. The older boys especially love Jake! 🏈

When we asked Jake what his favorite part of serving with Mission 2540 is, he said: "Seeing all the boys and throwing around the football with them and cracking jokes."

Jake, thank you for being so faithful and for loving these kids so well! We are SO grateful for you!

Want to be part of what we're doing at Mission 2540? We'd love to have you join us! 🙌

Our Summer’s Last Blast parties at Madison Park and Cameron Court were SO much fun! From hot dogs and hot chips 🌭 to Bahama Bucks 🍧, inflatables, a pool party, face painting, tattoos, and back-to-school crafts—we packed in all the summer fun before school started! 🥳

We are especially grateful for the amazing apartment staff at both Madison Park and Cameron Court. They have been so supportive, encouraging, and welcoming of Mission 2540.

And we couldn’t make any of this happen without our incredible team of volunteers! Thank you for showing up and making these memories with our kids. We are so grateful for each of you!

What a sweet way to wrap up summer and remind these kids that they are seen, known, loved, and worth celebrating!

The first week of school is officially in the books! 📚✏️ Even with busy school schedules, we still had a great crew for Kids' Club at both Madison Park and Cameron Court!

We played a little Cookie Face (don’t worry…everyone got a clean Oreo to eat 😂🍪), laughed a lot, and talked about 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

What a good reminder for all of us—when we’re worried, overwhelmed, or just carrying a lot, we don’t have to hold it all by ourselves. We can throw our worries to God because He cares about us! 🙌
