Valentine’s Day isn’t romantic for everyone.

For some, it’s not roses.
It’s not chocolate.
It’s not candlelight.

It’s tension.
It’s walking on eggshells.
It’s wondering if tonight will be peaceful — or not.

Sometimes abuse hides behind grand gestures.
Flowers after fear.
Jewelry after yelling.
“I’m sorry” without change.

That isn’t love.

Real love is safe.
Real love is kind.
Real love doesn’t make you afraid.

If Valentine’s Day feels heavy instead of sweet, please know this:

You are not crazy.
You are not dramatic.
You are not ungrateful.
