🚨 WaterStep Ebola Response Update:

At WaterStep, we believe in empowering locals with sustainable tools. We believe in scalable systems. Our Ebola response reflects that.

🦠 Ebola Response Phase 1 & 2 is underway:
In partnership with Congo Connect & Thrive, we have BleachMaker disinfectant hubs established in Goma and now in Bunia, at the epicenter of the outbreak. Our teams are working with local networks to distribute disinfectant to facilities in need across the most at-risk areas.

We have secured funding to keep our teams producing and distributing disinfectant at these hubs for the coming weeks! We will need additional funding to complete our Phase 3 plans and expand our hubs within and outside DRC.

Thank you for your support in this effort. 💙 Given our history in the DRC and with Ebola, we feel uniquely qualified to have a profound impact against Ebola. It isn't possible without you.

Disaster preparedness isn't just something we talk about—it's what we do.

Yesterday, WaterStep hosted a WOWCart™ training and demonstration in Carrollton, Kentucky, with Carrollton Utilities, Kentucky Rural Water Association, and local government partners.

At the confluence of the Ohio and Kentucky Rivers, we used the WOWCart and our high-turbidity prefiltration accessory unit to turn heavily sedimented river water into clear, chlorinated, safe drinking water.

Every training and partnership strengthens Kentucky's disaster response network. Together, we're building a scalable model for emergency safe water that can be replicated nationwide.

A special shoutout to our partner 502 Equipment, for their support and for providing lunch at this training event. Together, we're building stronger, more resilient communities.

🚨 The BleachMaker was created to help combat the 2014 Ebola outbreak.

Today, WaterStep volunteers are already mobilizing BleachMakers to help combat the new strain of Ebola spreading across the Congo and surrounding regions.

SUPPORT WATERSTEP: https://waterstep.org/get-involved/donate/

Your support not only helps us distribute life-saving equipment to communities facing this disease, but ensures they will be able to produce life-saving disinfectant and safe water locally far into the future.

But equipment alone isn’t enough. Awareness and education are also critical. WaterStep is working with partners to expand hygiene and Ebola prevention messaging so communities have both the tools and the knowledge to protect themselves.

This is why safe water, disinfectant, and hygiene matter in a crisis.

Thank you for your support. 💙

💐 This Mother’s Day, we’re thinking about the sacrifices mothers make every single day.

One of the most meaningful ways to honor that love is to help another mother do the same for her child. 💧

With safe water, a mother has one less thing to worry about. One less risk to her child’s health. One more chance for her family to thrive.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at WaterStep. 💙

Big shoutout to the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society at Atherton High School! 🌍

These students are turning compassion into action by raising $3,000 to install handwashing stations in schools across the Democratic Republic of Congo. 🙌

In many schools in the DRC, students don’t have reliable access to safe water and handwashing facilities. This project will help thousands of students stay healthier and spend more time in the classroom.

We love seeing young leaders step up to create global impact. 👏

Their goal is to fully fund the project by June 1, 2026, and every donation helps bring them closer. 💧

Courage isn’t about being fearless.
It's about taking action, despite your fears.

In this episode of the By Her Hands Podcast, we’re joined by our first global guest, Faith from Uganda. She shares how speaking up brought safe water to her village, changing the future for girls in her community.

From walking miles for water to staying in school, her story is a powerful reminder that one act of courage can change everything.

Last week, we sat down with leaders to talk about the future of disaster response. 💧

WaterStep met with Senator Lindsey Tichenor, Senator Rand Paul, and Congressman Thomas Massie to share our vision for making Kentucky a model for disaster preparedness and emergency safe water response.

As disasters continue to intensify, communities can’t afford to wait for safe water. These conversations are about building solutions before the next crisis hits.

We're proud to be part of the work happening right here in Kentucky. 💙

We hope you had a meaningful Earth Day! 🌍

At WaterStep, today is a reminder that water is at the center of everything. 💧

Not just oceans and rivers, but the water people rely on every day to survive.

This is your reminder that the health of our planet and the health of our communities are deeply connected.

When water is unsafe, everything suffers - people, ecosystems, and the future.

Because protecting the planet starts with protecting people. 💙

THANK YOU, LOUISVILLE! 🎉💧🏃‍♀️

To everyone who laced up and showed up this morning, you made today something special.

WaterStep's mission is simple: safe water for those who need it most. And because of YOU, that mission keeps moving forward.

Over 30 years ago, this dream was born here. Safe water technologies developed, built, and shipped from Louisville to the world. Today, that work has reached 72 countries, touched over 15 million lives, and responded to over 40 disasters.

Thank you to Lynn Family Stadium for hosting our 2nd annual 5k! Thank you Waterfront Botanical Gardens for being a partner and sharing the beautiful venue!

Shoutout to our partners 502 Equipment and Louisville Water Company!

None of it happens without this community. Thank you for believing in what we do. 💧🌍
