🥫 What is the Bluegrass Division Food Market all about?

On September 16, WPSARDC–Bluegrass Division is launching our monthly Food Market in the Tates Creek area with one simple goal: bring resources directly into the community where they’re needed.

This isn’t a traditional food pantry. Individuals and families can come in, look through what’s available, and choose what they need for their household—food, basic household necessities, and even pet food when available. No pre-packed boxes. No deciding for someone else what their family needs.

The Food Market will be held every third Wednesday of the month from 5–7 PM, giving the community another accessible option for getting a little extra help when they need it.

🥫 We’re collecting non-perishable food now for our September 16 opening!

Food and household donations can be dropped off, or we can arrange pickup. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated and help us purchase the items we need most to keep the market stocked.

🎃 Bluegrass friends, we’re getting closer!

We’ve been having so much fun putting together our Graveyard Gallop 5K, and we can’t wait to see everyone at Coldstream Park on October 30!

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, now is a good time to make it official — registration prices increase August 31! 👻

Come run it, walk it, dress up if you want, and bring your friends, your kids, and your dogs! 🐾🎃

We hope you’ll come spend the evening with us and help make our very first Graveyard Gallop one to remember! 💙🎃

👀 HUMAN TRAFFICKING FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW

Human trafficking doesn’t always look like what we see in movies. Knowing what it can actually look like is an important part of recognizing the signs.

🔹 Trafficking does not always involve kidnapping. Traffickers may use manipulation, threats, fraud, coercion, or someone’s vulnerabilities to maintain control.

🔹 A person can be trafficked without ever crossing a state or national border. Human trafficking can happen within someone’s own community.

🔹 Traffickers aren’t always strangers. A trafficker can be someone the victim knows, trusts, dates, works for, or depends on

🔹 Trafficking isn’t only s*x trafficking. Labor trafficking can occur when someone is compelled to work or provide services through force, fraud, or coercion.

🔹 Someone experiencing trafficking may still go to work, attend school, use a phone, or interact with other people. There isn’t one appearance or behavior that identifies a trafficking situation.

🔹 You don't have to be law enforcement to help. Learning what to look for and how to safely respond is a powerful first step.

🥫 WPSARDC–Bluegrass Division is bringing a Neighborhood Food Market to the Tates Creek area!

Beginning Wednesday, September 16, WPSARDC–Bluegrass Division will launch a monthly Neighborhood Food Market at the Lexington Housing Authority – Centre Meadows/P.A.L. location on Centre Parkway.

We know that getting to available resources isn’t always easy. Transportation, work schedules, rising grocery costs and simply knowing where to go can all create barriers. So instead of asking people to find the resources, we’re bringing the resources directly into the neighborhood.

Our Food Market will provide FREE non-perishable food and basic household necessities** and will be open to everyone.

This isn't a one-time event. The Neighborhood Food Market will return every 3rd Wednesday of the month, giving the Tates Creek area a consistent, accessible community resource.

😌 TODAY is National Relaxation Day!

At WPSARDC-Bluegrass Division, we spend a lot of time talking about taking care of our community—but taking care of yourself matters, too. 💙

So today, give yourself permission to slow down for a little while.

Take a nap. Sit outside. Read a book. Go for an easy walk. Turn your phone off. Or do absolutely nothing for a bit.

You don’t have to be productive every minute of every day.
