This is more than a fundraiser—it’s Lexington showing what collective generosity can do. In 2025, Give 8/28 Lex raised $234,956 for 40 Black-serving nonprofits, doubling the previous year’s results. Since launching in 2023, the campaign has raised more than $350,000 for local impact. Now it’s our turn to go even bigger.

Pull up to Gatton Park on August 28 from 5–9 PM for food, music, live performances, games and giveaways. Come celebrate, give with purpose and help keep NCM’s mission moving.

Learning how to stretch your pantry and make fresh, delicious food from scratch shouldn't be complicated. 🌿

On September 13th, our friend and culinary professional Lorenzo Herrera is stepping into The Market Kitchen to host a free community class on sauce making—starting with fresh pesto.

Whether you're looking to sharpen your skills or just spend a cool evening learning something new, we'd love to have you in the space with us. If you know someone in the Northside family who'd enjoy this, pass this along to them!

We are proud to participate in Give 8/28 Lex—a day dedicated to supporting Black-serving nonprofit initiatives through the Blue Grass Community Foundation and Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative.

Three of our amazing vendors will be set up at Gatton Park for a big nonprofit fundraiser:
📍 Empanada Company (6 PM – 9 PM)
📍 Carol’s Soulful Catering (6 PM – 9 PM)
📍 No Forkz (6 PM – 9 PM)

(Note: Chef Li’s Private Kitchen [11 AM – 8 PM] and Empanada Company [11 AM – 6 PM] will be holding down the fort back at The Market Kitchen earlier on Friday!)

Through The Market Kitchen, Food Pathways, entrepreneur mentorship and community food partnerships, NCM is creating stronger routes to healthy food and economic mobility. Next up: expanding Food Pathways, growing nutrition education and working toward a Neighborhood Green Grocery that brings fresh, affordable food even closer to home.

Our people bring the vision to life. NCM has supported 40 food entrepreneurs with kitchen access, technical assistance, mentorship, retail opportunities and connections that help businesses grow. In 2023, nearly 76% of the business owners we served were people of color and nearly 69% were non-male—because an equitable local economy starts by opening doors for talent that has too often been overlooked.

But the impact goes beyond the plate—every meal creates connection, dignity and another opportunity for a young person to feel seen and supported.
