Hey folks! Here's a quick roundup of some the rad things Collexion made happen in 2012 compiled by Tim, Dave, Blake, Derek, Todd and myself:
- we built a CNC!
- we crowdfunded new chairs for the space; now we can sit!
- we supported the totally cool Lexington CityCamp
- Blake H was on the winning team of Lexington's Startup Weekend 2012
- Mike A led the charge to build our detailed hackerspace temperature logging system
- Charlie C curated the amazing Scripts and Systems art exhibition at the Loudon House
- Scripts and Systems featured art by some of our members and a huge Makerbot demo and we held a huge public CNC demo that packed the hackerspace
- also we were featured in an article in the Leader at some point, i think
- our Laptop Orchestra finally had its debut performance!!
- we supported OpenLexington and the Lexington open data initiative, which is moving along swimmingly
- the local linux user group now meets at Collexion
- we had some great arduino and raspberry pi educational seminars
- and, the city and the Mayor(!) made generous donations to Collexion, showing their support of what us weirdos are up to
Not bad. Perhaps Collexion's best year ever. Thanks to all of you for making it happen!
Now, what shall we do in 2013? What would you like to see happen at your hackerspace this year?
I'll get you started: 501c3, a tool lending library, more open hours, membership cards, new website, more robots....... :)
