Our mission is to significantly reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in rural Haitian communities.

Global Birthing Home Foundation funds and operates Maison de Naissance, a birthing home that provides a safe and culturally appropriate center for maternal and infant health care in an impoverished and underserved region of Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere. It is staffed 100% by employees from the local area, and no patient is ever refused for any reason.

In remote La Hatte, Haiti, crossing rocky riverbeds and flooded streams used to be the only way for a pregnant woman to see a nurse. For local mother Marie, past pregnancies meant no check-ups at all, she simply couldn't choose between feeding her family and paying for transportation to a distant clinic.

Everything changed this year.

With the opening of Maison de Naissance’s 3rd NEST (Network of Extended Service and Treatment) clinic site in La Hatte, the first permanent maternal and infant health facility in the region, Marie and hundreds of mothers like her now have free, compassionate care right in their neighborhood.

"With my older children, I never had a single check-up. Going to the doctor was too expensive, and paying for transportation was simply impossible for my family. This time, everything is different. Having free prenatal care right here in our community means I can protect my baby’s health without choosing between food or a medical visit. Now I truly understand how important pregnancy check-ups are, and I feel safer knowing I will have a professional midwife with me during my delivery." - Marie

In rural areas like La Hatte, maternal mortality risks can soar up to 200% higher than the national average due to extreme isolation. MN’s NEST program is actively breaking down these barriers by providing local prenatal and postpartum care, vaccinations, and emergency transport.

Since 2004, Global Birthing Home Foundation Maison de Naissance has supported over 100,000 prenatal consultations and delivered over 10,200 healthy babies. We are proud to stand alongside our allies as communities reclaim their health! 💙👶
