With youth and adult groups, KCHC presents spring and holiday concerts and performs at community and local sporting events. It all started with a dream to bring horn players from throughout the diverse area of Kansas City together to share in their love of music and desire to play the horn. In February of 2013 Stacy Lendt and Natalie Higgins, two area horn performers and educators, met to put this dream into action. With a vision to create a unique environment to promote outreach and unity among the horn community, the club kicked off its introductory year with three themed events: The Good, The Bad, and the Horn, A Haunted Horn Day and Horns A Plenty Christmas. Reaching over 100 horn players s of all ages and walks of life, these events provided masterclasses by distinguished horn professionals, clinics by entrepreneurs successful in the music field, and performances by University horn choirs and members of the club. As the club embarks on the second phase of its journey, it hopes to expand its reach to provide inspirational programs, funding in the form of scholarships, and events for the areas’ younger generation of musicians.
