🌞 Summer of Service has officially begun!

Last week, our first Summer of Service project kicked off at Moss Bluff Senior Center, where our amazing youth volunteers spent the morning power washing tables and chairs to help create a clean, welcoming environment for the center's summer activities.

A huge thank you to these young volunteers for giving their time and energy to make a difference in our community. We can't wait to see the impact they'll make throughout the summer!

Last week, Louisiana 211 partners gathered at the Capitol for 211 Day, meeting with legislators on the final day of session to share the impact of 211 services across our state.

We are grateful to the legislators who took the time to learn more about how 211 connects individuals and families to critical resources, information, and support every day. From disaster assistance and housing support to food, healthcare, and mental health resources, 211 serves as a lifeline for communities throughout Louisiana.

Thank you for recognizing the importance of ensuring every Louisianan has access to help when they need it most.

Today, United Way Southwest Louisiana delivered 128 Literacy Kits to local early learning centers across our community, helping put books directly into the hands of young learners.

This month's featured book was *The Juice Box Bully*, a story that encourages kindness, inclusion, and standing up for others.

United Way Southwest Louisiana’s Literacy Kits are designed to inspire a love for reading through creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning. Each kit includes a book along with interactive activities, games, or props designed to help bring the story to life and make reading more meaningful for children. Kits range from STEM and art themes to anti-bullying and other grade-specific topics.
