Not only do we have the C-19 Virus to worry about. West Nile Virus has been reported found in a Baton Rouge Mosquito this week. Normally WNV does not show up until May or Later.
In any case, Mosquito Control is urging residents to start taking precautions to
prevent mosquito bites: wearing insect repellent while outside for
long periods of time, restricting time outside during the early
morning and late evening hours when mosquitoes are most active, and
wearing long sleeves if possible. He also advises dumping any
containers with standing water around homes.

Last year [2019], 20 Louisiana residents got sick from West Nile
virus, and 2 died. The most serious type is a neuroinvasive infection,
which can lead to paralysis, brain damage and death.
Also - Please protect any outside pets too - as animals (especially Horses) can get it.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG. Wild Babies are being Born. All Mammal Mothers will leave their Babies in order to get food for herself and her young. Mom is normally close by, but hidden hoping that you will leave the area so she can return to them. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Leave the baby alone. Unless you know that the Mother is dead, or the babies are in a danger area - Road, Dogs/Cats, etc are near, or the baby has been injured. If you do find an injured baby or one in danger Please find a Wildlife Rehabber immediately. Do not feed the baby ANYTHING. They, like all living things even humans, can go a long time without food, and being picked up by anyone not their Mom will send them into shock. Most Babies that Rehabber lose is not from an injury, but from the finder feeding them Human baby food/formula or Grocery Store milk before finding a Rehabber. All human Baby foods and Milk now have preservatives in them to keep the foods fresh longer, Animals can not digest these additives and it will kill them.
