The Women's Section will be having a luncheon on December 20, 2024 at the Pioneer Club from 11:30am-1pm. The Section's guest speaker will be Julie Este-McDonald and attendees will earn 1 hour of CLE credit. Hope to see everyone there!

The SWLA Women's Section will be having a luncheon at the Pioneer Club on September 27, 2024 from 11:30a.m. - 1:00p.m. Michelle Caballero will be presenting as the guest speaker and attendees will earn 1 hour of CLE credit. The luncheon cost is $35.00 and checks should be made payable to the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association.

On May 10, 2024, the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association hosted its annual Law Day Ceremony. This year’s ceremony featured a discussion on the “Voices of Democracy” led by guest speaker, Honorable Sharon Wilson. This year’s awards were given to many well-deserved individuals in our community. The Liberty Bell Award recipient was Lake Charles Mayor, Nic Hunter. The Law Enforcement Award recipient was Deputy Marshal Craig Lee. The Martinet Award recipient was Chantell Smith, posthumously. The Young Lawyers Section additionally had winners from poster and essay contests from local schools. The bright young students were present at the ceremony to accept their awards. Here’s to another great year of law, advocacy, and justice in our community!

The Women’s Section of the SWLA Bar gathered for a luncheon at the Pioneer Club with guest speaker, the Honorable Judge St Mary, who spoke about professionalism inside and outside the courtroom. We’ve got some amazing female lawyers here in SWLA!

We had a great turnout for last week's Fall Court Opening Ceremony! Thank you to all who attended. We also want to extend a special thank you to Lee & Corlissa Hoffoss who hosted a wonderful Fall Party last Friday!

The Southwest Louisiana Bar Association hosted its annual Fall Court Ceremony in honor of the next court term.

Don’t forget! The Fall Party is this Friday, October 20, 2023 after the Fall Court Ceremony & Luncheon. This year’s party is hosted at the beautiful home of Lee & Corlissa Hoffoss located at 5947 Sawgrass Way from 6:30p.m. – 9:30p.m. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and enjoying some great food and entertainment!

Just a reminder! This Friday's Fall Court Opening Ceremony will be held at LAKE CHARLES CITY COURT in Courtroom A. We will NOT be in the District Courthouse/Clerk's Building as we have been in years prior. Please make every effort to attend as we want to warmly welcome the new members to the Bar, recognize members for their years of practice, and pay tribute to those who have recently passed. Immediately following the ceremony, the Fall Luncheon will be held at the Pioneer Club where we will be electing new officers and handle some business issues of the Bar. We're looking forward to seeing everyone Friday!
