📚 Save the Date! Read for the Record® 2027
The Junior League of Lake Charles is excited to join volunteers across the country on Thursday, February 25, 2027, for Read for the Record® Day!

Now in its 21st year, Read for the Record® is the world’s largest shared reading experience, bringing millions of children and volunteers together to celebrate the joy of reading and raise awareness about the importance of early childhood literacy.

📖 This year’s featured book is Brave Like a Lion! How a Puppeteer Found Her Voice

Based on the real-life story of Emmy-winning author Megan Piphus, the first full-time Black woman puppeteer on Sesame Street, and lovingly illustrated by award-winning artist Niña Mata, this story follows a shy young girl as she discovers the courage to find her voice.

Through this initiative, volunteers help foster a love of reading, strengthen early literacy skills, and put books into the hands of children.

❤️ One Day. One Book. Countless Little Lives Inspired!

Are you ready to help turn the page on childhood literacy? Mark your calendar for February 25 and get ready to join your fellow League members in bringing stories to life, sparking imaginations, and helping children discover the power of their own voices! If your school is interested in having a Junior League of Lake Charles volunteer read to your students, please reach out to us at [email protected].
