𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻'𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙢/𝘼 𝙎𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 Nehemiah 4:7-15

Jerusalem, the crown jewel of the Jewish people was in rubble. Nehemiah has returned to the city to rebuild not only the city, but its walls.

The walls are about half built, but naturally, there are still enemies and detractors. And, they instill fear into the hearts of the people.

Nehemiah sees this and he takes action. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘐 𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦: “𝘋𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮; 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘸𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴. (Nehemiah 7:14)

Today, we face our enemies who would destroy our American way of life politically, economically, and remove Christianity from the private and public square. Our Judeo/Christian way of life is under attack.

As Nehemiah rallied the Jews to fight for their families, so must we. How do we do it?

First, we pray. My people if . . . 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘔𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘔𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯, 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙢 - 𝘼 𝙎𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 Scripture reading: Nehemiah 4:7-15

We are in a battle for the soul of our beloved America. It is not just a political battle; it is a spiritual battle.

If you reading the documents of our founding fathers, you will find they understood the importance of framing our Constitution and form of government on biblical principles. Our founding father, John Adams, our second President said, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺. He was not the only one that believed that. So did many others. Yes, they had flaws, but the Christian religion guided them in their deliberations and ultimate decisions.

Obviously, we have strayed far from those convictions. Ever since the Supreme Court decision in 1963 that marked the beginning of throwing God out of the public square, our society has been on the decline. We are now in danger of losing those freedoms that we hold dear, not just the freedom to worship, but also the economic freedoms we hold dear.

Nehemiah rallied the Israelites by challenging them to . . .𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮; (their enemies and detractors)𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙬𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴.”

𝗔 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻'𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: 𝙏𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 Scripture Reading: Genesis 44:30-34

Sunday's message dealt with taking care of our family the God wants us to take care of them. Historically in most if not all societies,, the family - a male, the father, a female, the mother, and children have been considered the foundation of society.

God's order for the family is given to us in Ephesians, chapters five and six. Statistics are given that say approximately 70% of people living today are or have lived in a dysfunctional family. When we reject God's plan for our lives, chaos and dysfunction are the result.

When Judah was standing before Joseph pleading for Benjamin, he asked a very sobering question. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘨𝘰 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦? Parents, should not we be asking the question, 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘨𝘰 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵?

The challenge for us as parents is to do as we are told Noah did in Hebrews 11:7: 𝘉𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘕𝘰𝘢𝘩, 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯, 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙, 𝘣𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩.

Noah obeyed God and it resulted in the saving of his family. How can we do anything less?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: 𝙏𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 Genesis 44:30-44

We are continuing our series on stewardship. This week we are looking at taking care of our families.

A very sobering, poignant question is asked by Judah, Joseph's brother, in our reading for today. Benjamin, their youngest brother, has been accused of stealing in a test Joseph has devised to test his brother's integrity. He has promised his dad that he would make sure Benjamin returned home.

Now, when it looks like Benjamin will be put in prison, Judah asks this question, 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘨𝘰 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦. As we consider our families, should we not ask the question, 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘨𝘰 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦?

It is a tragedy that statistics tells us nearly three-fourths of families in the United States are dysfunctional. It does not have to be that way. God has given clear instructions in the Bible about how the family is to be ordered, and how we are to treat each other as family members.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻'𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 I normally write a challenge from the message I preached on Sunday. Since Debbie and I were out of town the previous week, Bro. Ron Sherer brought the message preaching on the subject, 𝘏𝘦 𝘒𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘦.

What a tremendous thought that should encourage each one of us. God knows our name. Jesus knows our name.

One of the most poignant moments in the life of Jesus was when He meant Mary at the tomb after the resurrection. She is weeping, Jesus is no longer in the tomb. Supposing the man who stands before her to be the gardener, she asks him to tell her where Jesus is so she can go to Him.

Jesus then gets her attention with one word, her name. 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘺. She instantly recognizes Him, and worships Him. He called her by name.

God knows your name, and He will not forget you! 𝘚𝘦𝘦, 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴. . . (Isaiah 49:16) Your name is ever before Him. Take heart.
