Information & Referral: serves as a referral source answering specific questions from consumers and the general public about disability issues. maintains a database of information about facilities and resources related to disability, and when appropriate, makes referrals to other service providers. Independent Living Skills Training: assists consumers by teaching and practi
cing the skills which will increase independence. Such skills may include: nutrition, cooking, menu-planning, transportation access training, health care and financial management. Peer Counseling: shares knowledge, skills, and disability-related experiences in group sessions, or one-on-one. also provides sharing of opinions, feelings, problems and solutions. Advocacy: provides information and support concerning legal and civil rights, available benefits, and housing accessibility issues, for persons with disabilities. also provides technical assistance and support to any business regarding Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA) compliance issues, with on-site reviews provided upon request and recommendations. Transitioning: From a nursing home into the community from high school into the workforce.
