Today's AHEC Southwest Louisiana Camp Fast Forward focused on CPR and related first aid training. Students learned about adult and infant CPR which can help them respond in emergency situations. Yesterday, McNeese Medical Laboratory Science had the pleasure of welcoming two AHEC groups to campus—one from Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and one from West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital.

The students received an overview of the MLS profession and the major laboratory departments, then participated in hands-on simulated laboratory activities, including urinalysis, drug screens, culture setups, and simulated blood typing.

We enjoyed sharing the important role of medical laboratory scientists with these future healthcare professionals and appreciate AHEC, LCMH, and WCCH for helping make this visit possible!

A special thank you to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital (LCMH) for hosting McNeese MLS faculty and Colonel Tony Polk for a tour of the laboratory and a wonderful meet-and-greet opportunity.

We are grateful to Brittney Lemoine, Laboratory Director, and Michael Ardoin, Associate Administrator, for representing LCMH and welcoming us so warmly. It was a meaningful opportunity to visit the laboratory, connect with LCMH leadership, and spend time with Colonel Polk as we continue celebrating his contributions to the MLS profession.
