This week, we recognize National School Counseling Week and the vital role school counselors play in supporting student mental health, academic success, and emotional well-being. 💚🎓

School counselors are often a first line of support, helping students navigate stress, relationships, and challenges both in and out of the classroom. At Western Youth Services, we work alongside schools through programs like the Student Behavioral Health Incentive Program (SBHIP) to ensure students have access to early intervention, counseling, and support where they learn and grow every day.

Thank you to school counselors for creating safe, supportive spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and valued.

Our Approach to Supporting Youth 💙

At Western Youth Services, we provide children, youth, and families in Orange County with full access to mental health care and support. Using a trauma-informed intervention model, we help individuals recognize how past experiences, including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), affect their lives, and we strive to provide tools to help heal and build resilience.

Our solutions don’t just address the impacts of trauma; they also work upstream to prevent future challenges. Learn more about the evidence-based practices that guide our work at bit.ly/wys-methodology

We were excited to welcome the Marconi Family to our Family Oasis Center to meet with staff and learn more about the need for youth mental health services in Orange County. Our team shared more about the incredible work we're doing in schools, and the meaningful impact the Marconi Family's annual toy donations make for children and families in our local community. We’re grateful for their continued support and for local partnerships like this that help make a difference. 💙 Marconi Automotive Museum

As parents and caregivers of school-aged children, it can be difficult to know our roles in bullying prevention and intervention. In the Bullying Prevention & Intervention for Parents and Caregivers trainings, parents and caregivers will learn what bullying is, how to prevent it and strategies to teach children what to do if they or someone else is being bullied.

Bullying Prevention and Intervention for Elementary and Middle School Students provides children an understanding on what bullying is, how to define the 4 types of bullying, how they can work to prevent it, and what to do if they are being bullied or see someone else being bullied.

January 19th - 23rd is No Name Calling Week. Every word can leave a lasting impact, and even comments that seem small or “harmless” can affect a young person’s confidence and sense of safety. This week encourages adults and peers to notice sooner, step in with care, and create spaces where youth feel respected and supported. 💙

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 🧡

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King, whose vision of justice, equality, and compassion continues to inspire us all. At Western Youth Services, we’re reminded that small acts of kindness and understanding can make a big difference.
