Just celebrated 26 years with type 1 diabetes. We call it our Diaversary. 26 years of multiple daily injections of life saving insulin, finger pokes to check blood sugar, cgms (continuous glucose monitor), treating lows with juice and food, correction injections for high sugars, treating highs and lows in the middle of the night. I have met so many others like me through my diagnosis, that I wouldn’t have met otherwise. I have a mission, providing free medical alert IDs to diabetic children and it helps me to relate to them. Happy Diaversary to me! 🎉

Yesterday marked 26 years as a T1D for me. MDI with a CGM. Doing pretty good. No A1C over 7 usually under. Minor hiccups like retinal hole and detachment. Both better now. I’m lucky. I know others that have more serious complications. How long have you or your child been diabetic?
