Dogs are man's best friend, but it is not always the other way
around. The Little Red Dog was founded in memory of a little red
American Pit Bull Terrier who did not make it. If you are familiar
with the Michael Vick dog fighting case chronicled in The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption. The Little Red Dog was brutally beaten to death by Vick and his cronies because she had the audacity to not to want
to fight. The Little Red Dog fights for all the dogs, red, blue, tan, white, brown, black and all colors in between. We do not discriminate against ANY breed; that's
because we are a real rescue, and we will help as many animals as we can. Our hope that some day all of
them make it out, but most of all, we will never forget the Little Red Dog and
many others who did not.

Wishing everyone a fun and SAFE Halloween! Whether your pup is dressing up or relaxing at home, here are a few tips to keep your furry friends safe!

🐾 Halloween Safety Tips:

🚶‍♂️Get your evening walk in before the neighborhood fills up with people and things that may spook your dogs.
🚪 Watch the doors! Keep pets secured when trick-or-treaters arrive to prevent escapes.
🍫 Hide the candy! Chocolate and xylitol (in some sugar-free treats) are toxic to dogs.
🎃 Keep decorations out of reach! Candles, cords, and decorations can be dangerous.
👻 Choose comfortable costumes! Nothing that restricts movement, breathing, or vision.
🔊 Provide a quiet space! Halloween excitement can be stressful for pets.
🐕 Check IDs and microchips! Make sure contact information is up to date.

Christine's answer: because they'll do anything to please their owners. They don't want to fight. They want to make their person happy, and people take advantage of that.

If you meet a dog who came out of fighting, or a bait dog, don't see them as the bad seed. They're the victims. It's the humans.

🐾❤️ Pit Bull Awareness Month may be coming to an end, but our advocacy shouldn't!

October is for celebrating these incredible dogs, challenge stereotypes, and work to change the way people see pit bull-type dogs. But they need our voices 365 days a year!

Every day, these dogs face unfair stereotypes, discrimination, and overcrowded shelters simply because of how they look.

❤️ Keep educating.
🐾 Keep challenging misconceptions.
❤️ Keep advocating for responsible ownership.
🐾 Keep adopting, fostering, and speaking up.

Awareness shouldn't end when October does. Every dog deserves to be judged as an individual, loved for who they are, and given a chance to thrive.

🐝💛 Our beautiful Daisy Ann is buzzing with excitement because SHE'S HOME! 🏡❤️

After 5 long years of waiting, including being adopted and returned twice, Daisy Ann finally has the happy ending she's always deserved!

When dogs have been in our rescue for years with little to no adoption interest, we'll sometimes ask their fosters if they'd consider adopting or becoming permanent fosters. After all, they've already opened their hearts and homes to these deserving dogs.

And guess what? Daisy Ann's foster said YES! 🥹❤️

While Daisy Ann will remain a TLRD dog for life, she now has the comfort and security of knowing she's right where she belongs. And we're thrilled to announce that she's officially OFF THE MARKET! 🎉

No more goodbyes, no more uncertainty. Just love, stability, and a place to call her own.
