BringJimmyHome.com Fundraising for Jimmy Pequeno A medically induced coma was followed by multiple surgeries and procedures. Neither parent has been able to return to work.

Jimmy Pequeno senior year at El Toro High School was abruptly halted when he was involved in a serious car accident on July 1st, 2011. Although no drugs or alcohol were involved, speed and inexperience behind the wheel on a dangerous stretch of poorly lit
highway resulted in him loosing control. While he was successful in sparing the life of his good friend, his car was no match for the utility po

le, which stopped the uncontrolled spin of his car. Jimmy was rushed to Mission Hospital Trauma Center with a severe traumatic brain injury with multiple skull fractures, a collapsed lung and multiple broken bones. Over the last five months, Jimmy’s injuries have taken him from a major hospital to an extended care/rehab facility. Due to his anticipated prolonged recovery period, his insurance will no longer pay for his care at this level and is downgrading him to a nursing home facility where there will be limited physical therapy opportunities and the level of care will be greatly reduced. Rob and Angela need to bring their son, Jimmy, home to continue his care and rehabilitation. His parents, Rob & Angela have been by his side 24/7 since the accident showing an unbelievable amount of love, faith and courage while enduring an unimaginable emotional roller coaster.

It's with a heavy heart that I say that we had to say goodbye today to Jimmy this morning. He fought a strong 6 years and today he is pain free.

Jimmy is watching over all of us now.

Jim has been doing well the past few days. We actually took him to the hospital on July 25th and he was admitted for cellulitis. Dr. W started Jim on antibiotics and wanted to observe him overnight. Because there was no bad reaction to the antibiotics Jim was discharged the next day. The cellulitis has cleared up. We are still having a few issues with Jims skin graph. But we are able to take care of them at home as they come up. Jim's pulmonary Dr. changed the bilevel vent setting. So Jim is sleeping better through the night. We are working on getting Jims wheel chair seats changed out. Once we get the seating changed we can start Sky therapy again. The repair is taking so long because of paperwork with the DME and insurance. We have made a lot of phone calls to both places. I think we have everything straightened out but I will call on Monday just to be sure.

Jim finished all his antibiotics and has been doing better. We have started Jim back on the Buffalo table or tilt table only a few minutes a day. Cameron comes over to do strength training and Victoria does neuro massage with Jimmy. We are waiting for Jims chair to get fixed ( paperwork) so we can start Sky therapy again. We want to bring Speech (Sholeh) and PT (Mark) back. But we are starting slow and making sure Jim can tolerate everything. I made Jimmy listen to 70's and 80's music and my attempt at playing a ukulele. He slept through it which was probably a good thing.

Jim is home and we can breathe again. Jims doing a lot better it was lucky we went in last week. Jims infection was caught early so less time in the hospital.

07/03/2017

Jimmy will be celebrating the 4th of July in the hospital. We will watch the fireworks on tv. No smell of smoke although Jim use to like lighting the smoke bombs and snakes on the 4th of July. Jim has to stay in the hospital because he has two different types of bacteria in his lungs. So he needs antibiotics, Prednisone and rest. Aunty Maria and Uncle Ted came to visit Jimmy this afternoon but he slept through it. 🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸

Today is year 6. Jim is resting in the hospital. If everything goes as planned discharge on Monday.

Thank you for you continued thoughts and prayers.

Jim was admitted to the hospital yesterday. We thought he had an infection from the trach turns out to be the beginning of pneumonia. The Drs want to keep him a few days to be sure it clears up.

06/23/2017

Jimmy went to see Dr. V the ENT yesterday. The Dr. scoped the trach and was happy with what he saw. No trauma and no scarring. He wants Jimmy to use an uncuffed trach but will leave that up to the pulmonary Dr. and RT. The last few days Jimmy has been getting agitated but then it goes away. In one week it will the 6th year of his accident. It will be a long week. We want to thank everyone for their continued support and love for Jimmy .

Jim has been having good days and nights. We were able to get the DME / RT to come to the house and set up Jims vent settings. Thank you goes to Dr. K and his assistant for making a few phone calls to make that happen. The vent is helping Jimmy from desating at night. The trach is still scary but Jim is doing better with it. We are starting to get Jim up in his chair for about an hour. Once we change the seating we can start Sky therapy again. Jim has a follow up appt with the ENT on Thursday.

06/10/2017

Jimmy has been adjusting to the trach. He has started PT therapy and MT therapy again. He has been midline since the trach was put in. His HR and O2 have been good. Jim still desates when in a deep sleep. We have to get Jim an adapter on the bipap now that it is through the trach. The settings might be different so Jim has to do go back to the hospital to do a sleep study. The DME wants it done in a safe environment because it is invasive. Other then that Jim is doing pretty awesome.
