This free service provides transportation to and from treatment for people with cancer who don’t have a ride or are unable to drive themselves. I am excited to tell you all about an amazing opportunity that the American Cancer Society has with the Chicago White Sox! We are going to “Strike Out Cancer” at our 2nd Annual American Cancer Society Day at the Ballpark on Saturday, August 29, 2015! The game is at 6:10 PM against the Seattle Mariners. We will be selling tickets to the game for $44 for Lower Box Seats, $26 for Outfield Reserve Seats, and new this year: $19 for Upper Box Seats.

But it gets even better! This opportunity is open to committee members, teams, and participants. American Cancer Society volunteers, such as yourself, are able to sell tickets to the game and receive a portion of each ticket credited to your team: $15 per ticket for Lower Box Seats, $10 per ticket for Outfield Reserve Seats, and $5 for Upper Box Seats.

How amazing is that!? If your team is interested in selling tickets, you just need to go to our designated website: www.whitesox.com/acs and purchase the number of tickets you want to sell to your friends and family. Tickets purchased are non-returnable/non-refundable.

In order for your team to get credit, you must forward a copy of your White Sox e-receipt with the number of tickets purchased to [email protected] with your event name and team name clearly noted in the email.

We have limited quantities on all types of tickets so don’t delay!

Just a friendly reminder that in observance of Memorial Day, your local American Cancer Society office will be closed beginning Friday, May 22nd at 2:00pm, will be closed all day on Saturday and Sunday (per usual) and will be closed all day Monday, May 25th. We will be open for regular business hours again on Tuesday, May 26th from 8:30am-5:00pm.

The Relay For Life of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff is currently and actively looking for new Event Leadership Team members (formerly known as the planning committee).

We have been working very closely with the Lake Forest Park District and we are looking at Deerpath Park as our potential event location. We have lots to plan so we are looking for dedicated volunteers who want to help inspire others, bring their creative ideas, and put their special touch on our event this year.

RESTORE THE ILLINOIS TO***CO QUITLINE!

In case you haven't heard the distressing news... The Illinois To***co Quitline ended its operations due to an executive order by Governor Bruce Rauner. This makes Illinois the only state in the country without a to***co Quitline.

Would you help us continue to mobilize our Illinois partners and volunteers to call the governor and urge him to restore Quitline

Here's how you can take action:
The process is easy, just ask your partners/contacts/volunteers/circles of influence to:
• Dial 1-888-NOW-I-CAN (1-888-669-4226)
• When a representative of ACS CAN answers, let them know you are calling to take action on the elimination of the Illinois To***co Quitline.
• They will ask for your name and home address and if you have any questions. (They have background on the issue and message to deliver if you need it.)
• The representative will then transfer you to the governor’s office.
• When a representative of the governor’s staff answers, please deliver the following message: “I would like to leave a message for Governor Rauner. I am a constituent and want him to restore funding for the Illinois To***co Quitline.”
• They will most likely ask for your name or address.
• Then just thank them for delivering the message. The advocacy action is complete.
