🐾 Day 14 of National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month - Meet Boo-Willis!

Boo-Willis is a s***ky, 3-month-old goofball that is full of energy and s***k to match. He's ready to take on the world and is eager for a family to show it to him. As a medium/large breed mix, he's expected to be a large boy. A family ready to help him learn the ropes and teach him doggy manners is just what this little guy needs. He's still just a pup with lots to learn and plenty of puppy shenanigans ahead! Boo-Willis has done well with ✨dogs, ✨cats, and ✨kids and could thrive in a variety of homes. He's learning potty training, leash manners, sitting politely for a treat, and the basics of growing up. It's all a work in progress, but he's a smart boy and giving it his all!

Boo-Willis is looking for a family to call his own and start making some exciting memories! He's ready to head home anytime we're open (with an approved application).

🐾 Day 13 of National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month - Meet Shiloh!

Shiloh is a 3 year old, wonderful mixed breed girl looking for a family to call her own.

She Has:
💙 Done well with cats
💙 Done well with dogs
💙 Done well with older children
💙 Done well at events and outings
And is potty trained!

Shiloh loves playing in the water, going for long walks, and stretching her legs with a good run! She can be super goofy and has fun playing with staff, showing off her zoomies in our yards. She's not picky about treats or toys and just wants to have fun! We're suspicious she's part Shar Pei, though we can't be certain! Shiloh is looking for adopters that will let her settle in, and watch her silly side shine. Once she feels comfortable, she’s sure to be a wonderful companion and the perfect buddy for adventures!

You can meet Shiloh anytime we're open, no appointment needed, and same day adoptions available with approved application. We hope to see you!

🐾 Day 11 of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month - Meet Pugsley!

Pugsley is a 1 year old, 45lb awesome guy who has a big love for his stuffed toys! Pugsley has quite the vocals in the kennel rooms, which has been a deterrent to some people meeting him. Once outside the kennels, you can see the stress melt away. He's an easy book to read, as food is the way to his heart. He prefers calmer environments, and loves consistency. Pugsley would likely do best in a home with teenagers or older children that can provide a less chaotic home compared to toddlers. He just doesn't love the wild vibe! Pugsley has done well with other dogs and would love another dog in his forever home. He passed his cat test, and might do well in a home with a cat! He's a sucker for gentle pets, b***y scratches, and treats. Did we mention he's potty trained??

🐾 Day 10 of Adopt a Shelter Pet Month - Meet Ebony and Sassy!

These two girls came in together, but will need to find separate homes where they can thrive as individuals. They were groomed prior to coming in, and have been feeling very fresh and s***ky with their new do! Ebony and Sassy are 9 month old Bouvier des Flandres, and came from a much larger group with varying ages. They're both just under 50lbs, and have some growing to do! They enjoy the company of other dogs, have enjoyed attention from staff, and could do well in a variety of environments. They're initially reserved, and may take a minute to warm up to visitors!

🐾 Day 9 of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month - Meet Max!

Max is a 2 year old, 61 lb, mix breed that was surrendered to find a home with more time for him. He arrived with another dog (a senior named Kai), who has since found a home. It's time Max headed home as well and we're sure the right match is out there somewhere!

Max has previously lived with dogs and has been around children. His old owner notes he's done well with dogs and kids, his favorite toys are balls, and loud noises can scare him. He previously lived as an outside dog and has adjusted to living inside here very smoothly! He is a slower guy that is more reserved, though he was a total rockstar during his medical exam! 💙 He's potty trained, food motivated, knows a few tricks, walks ok (it's a work in progress haha) on the leash, and wants to stun you with his beautiful eyes. He is a gentle soul and wants a family to match! Max would like a home with pets, playtime, and an evening full of snuggles on the couch with his family. Another dog in the home would be even better! If you have an empty spot on your bed, Max would be happy to be your missing puzzle piece.

✨ We Have FERRETS ✨

Did you know, we have more than just dogs and cats? (Even though we love both species very much). At Almost Home, we intake any animal in need that we can safely and humanely care for. Sometimes that means birds, sometimes it means rabbits and guinea pigs, earlier this year is meant hermit crabs (a first for us!), and now we have ferrets! A big thank you to our local partnered vets that are always willing to see our exotic-type animals and make sure they receive the appropriate species-specific care, which sometimes includes spay and neutering services, before adoption!

These two little boys are officially ready to head home! Pie, darker brown, and Pudding, light beige, are best of friends and will need to be adopted together. They are social ferrets and enjoy people, playtime, and are incredibly curious! They love playing together in our play room and have been working on learning their potty corner. These two would love a home were they have plenty of space to explore outside their kennel, enrichment opportunities, and the attention they crave. Ferrets require exotic animal veterinary care and yearly vaccinations. They have already received their rabies vaccination, flea/tick prevention, and are microchipped! Please check out ferret husbandry and care if you're interested in making these guys part of your forever family! You can see them anytime we're open. Their adoption fee is $200 for the pair.

🐾 Day 8 of National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month - Meet Buzz! 🐝

Buzz is a 1 year old, 54lb goofball. This boy is all play! He's strong, energetic, and always ready to go all in. Buzz loves to throw his body around and would be thrilled to have a doggy playmate who can keep up. His favorite type of play is wrestle-mania style, and a dog that matches that would make his world! At just 1 year old, he's still very much a puppy at his core and could use some basic training. There's plenty of excitement to channel! Buzz would do best with kids comfortable with his rowdy play style. He's never met a stranger and greets everyone he meets with enthusiasm!

Buzz is looking for an active home where he can run, play, and be his goofy self! If you are looking for a matching goofball, stop in anytime we're open to meet him!

What a week it has been! Shout out to the Purdue Men's Rugby team for hosting another Pie-A-Player fundraiser last Friday, and supporting our animals. Within just a few hours, and on a cloudy day, their team raised nearly $1000 for our shelter pets! Students had a blast stopping by for puppy cuddles, and of course, pieing a rugby payer. We've partner for a few years now and always look forward to this event.

Thank you to everyone that participated, and supported our mission! And a huge thank you to the Purdue Men's Rugby team for always being such champions for our shelter pets!

Our new building renovations are making some amazing progress and we had to share it with you all! The old flooring has been pulled up, kennels are being moved, and room for the onsite surgery suite is underway! We're ecstatic over here with our future and new opportunities to save lives and help our community.
