The historic Perrin Building at 330 Main Street was built in 1877 featuring an ornate cast-iron facade. It is one of our favorites! What is your favorite historic Greater Lafayette building?

415 Main is a good example of things being older than we thought. Initially surveys concluded it was built 1890, further research pushed it back to 1885, research after that pushed it to the late 1860's, and our latest research shows it was actually built 1855-1856, years before the Civil War.

If it's in Lafayette's Old City it's probably older than we think!

Fitzgerald - 717 Columbia Progress 😍

A few years ago the historic 1860's Second Empire House (tower added in the 1890's) at 717 Columbia (lovingly nicknamed "the Fitzgerald") was one of Lafayette's most endangered historic buildings.

Many of us had assumed the historic home's fate was sealed but in the eleventh hour the house has been given another lease on life. The folks at Blackbird House have been working with a partner to renovate and restore the historic home back to a single family with plans to have the historic home made a protected structure upon completion of renovation.

Stay tuned as we share more about this amazing landmark! More info on the home's history from our friends at the Tippecanoe County Historical Association!

About Us

Established in Lafayette, Indiana in 1973, we are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a unified effort to educate and encourage interest in the heritage and architecture in the Wabash Valley area. We subscribe to preservation in the broadest sense, encompassing quality of life issues that affect the environment, urban districts, neighborhoods, and rural areas.

Just as the built environment did not evolve overnight, preservation planning takes long range vision. Not only is the Trust involved in current community issues, we work hard to influence the long range future of preservation in Lafayette, Indiana and the Wabash Valley area. We have programs to educate residents on the importance of preservation. We are building networks here in our community along with state and national leaders as we strive to preserve our quality of life. Members of the Board of Trust will have the opportunity to serve a two or three year term.
