The 4th of July is extra special this year as our nation celebrates 250 years!! We have a day full of festive fun lined up right here in the City of Lafayette!

First, join us at the Memorial Island Amphitheater in Columbian Park from 12:00-3:00pm for the Bruce Barker, the Piano Man & Band LIVE!

This weekend our downtown community lost one of its greatest champions.

We are heartbroken to share the passing of Ken McCammon, longtime president of Friends of Downtown Lafayette and someone who poured his heart into making downtown Lafayette, Indiana the vibrant place we know today.

Ken believed deeply in bringing people together. If there was an idea that could support local businesses, create community, or fill Main Street with life, Ken was usually somewhere helping make it happen. Ken and great friend Steve Bultinck had a vision that created Mosey Down Main Street, which has become a beloved tradition for thousands of people every summer.

Ken once summed up the spirit of Mosey perfectly when he said it was simply a chance to “come prepared to see people you maybe haven't seen for a while… and enjoy being downtown.”

That simple idea—bringing people together—was really what Ken was all about.

But Ken’s impact on the greater Lafayette area went far beyond one event. Spearheading and creating, Grow Local Lafayette, Beers and More Across the Wabash, Christmas Day Dinner, and many other.

Because of Ken, our downtown and the entire greater Lafayette are is stronger, more welcoming, and more connected. His impact will live on in the downtown community, the conversations between neighbors, and the countless moments of community he helped create.

But more than the events or the projects, people will remember Ken for his kindness, his encouragement, and his belief in this community. He had a way of bringing people together and reminding us what makes downtown special.

We will miss him deeply, and we are grateful for everything he gave to this city.

Our hearts are with Ken’s family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.

Ken, we’ll keep Moseying down Main Street for you.
