No really. LOOK AT THIS PLACE. 🌻

Every vendor. Every smile. Every person who walked through this market this morning made it what it is — and what it is, is something special. Fresh. Local. Alive. Greater Lafayette showing up for itself every single Saturday and we are SO here for it.

We’re not just a farmers market. We’re a whole vibe. A whole community. A whole reason to get out of bed on a Saturday morning. 💚

Our vendors work hard. Our community shows out harder. We love you for this Greater Lafayette. Don’t ever change. 🙌 See you next Saturday.

In this week's Market Report, produced by Based in Lafayette, Carol Bangert makes the case for the market's most polarizing produce: the ruby-stained, the stubbornly green, the unapologetic. Her advice, earned through epic failure, is: stop disguising them and let them be themselves.

Every Saturday, a booth at the market carries finished work from Lafayette's fiber artists — knitters, crocheters and spinners who gather Thursday nights at The Strand, the county's only yarn shop. After Joann closed, Karla Shelton decided her city deserved better than a yarn desert. 🪡🧶

At the Lafayette Farmers Market, June arrives in shades of green. Herbs spill from pots and market tables — basil, mint, thyme, cilantro — each carrying the scent of a season just getting underway. 🌿

In this week's market report, Based in Lafayette follows the aromas through downtown, talking with growers, gathering tips and making the case that a handful of fresh herbs may be the simplest way to bring summer home.

There is a certain kind of trust that gets built at a farmers market — not the transactional kind, but something slower and more durable. You come back because you know the person. You buy because you believe in what they're doing.

In Lafayette, Michelle Kennedy and Fungi Meadows have been building that kind of trust one Saturday at a time, selling specialty mushrooms most people couldn't have named three years ago.
