is a community organization in Lafayette/West Lafayette, Indiana, founded as the Bach Chorale Singers more than four decades ago by a small group of singers who met on Sunday evenings in their homes to sing the great four-part chorales of J.S. Within a few years, one member became the first music director, and the group's repertoire quickly expanded. The organization performed its first public con

cert in 1968, and has continued to grow in size and musical sophistication under a succession of talented artistic directors. Today the adult Chorale numbers around 70 singers. The Lafayette Master Chorale is dedicated to providing outreach to singers and audiences in the north-central region of Indiana. The organization's goal is to provide life-long musical training and performance experiences for singers of all ages throughout Tippecanoe and surrounding counties. To help achieve this goal, an educational component was officially added to the organization in June 1996 when the Tippecanoe Youth Chorus merged with BCS, Inc. to form the Bach Chorale Youth Chorus, a traveling performance choir. In June 1999, the Greater Lafayette Children's Choir, serving singers ages 8 to 11, formally merged with Bach Chorale Singers as the Bach Chorale Children's Choir. In 2016, the choirs renamed themselves the Lafayette Children's Chorus. The Lafayette Master Chorale offers an annual subscription series of eight to ten concerts. During each concert season, our singers are frequently joined in performances by instrumentalists and guest artists. Artistic direction for the entire organization is provided by the Chorale music director, Michael Bennett. Professional directors lead the other two choirs, assisted by talented accompanists and coordinators. The organization's office, located in downtown Lafayette, is staffed by an executive director and a corps of dedicated volunteers.

The Lafayette Master Chorale & Children’s Choir is committed to inclusion and treating each person with dignity and respect. Across race, ethnicity, creed, religion, age, gender, identity and experience, we embrace the qualities that make us each who we are knowing that, as in choral music, it is these very differences that blend together with synergy, creating art that transcends its origins.

Harmony is one of the hallmarks of choral music: many different voices joining together to create one unified piece of music. The different voice parts add layers and richness that would not be possible alone.
