Meet Austin Harris – one of the people behind Legal Aid Corporation of Tippecanoe County's work every day.
Austin joined Legal Aid in 2023 as a Staff Attorney and has been dedicated to helping low-income individuals and families navigate complex civil legal issues ever since. Through his work, he provides compassionate legal representation and guidance to clients facing some of life's most difficult challenges, ensuring they have access to justice regardless of their financial circumstances.
In addition to his role at Legal Aid, Austin also practices at Luisa White Law, where he assists clients with a variety of legal matters. His experience in both nonprofit and private practice allows him to bring a well-rounded perspective to every case while remaining committed to serving the Greater Lafayette community.
As a Staff Attorney, Austin works closely with clients on a variety of civil legal matters, advocating for their rights both inside and outside the courtroom. He also collaborates with Legal Aid's staff, interns, volunteers, and community partners to help expand access to free legal services throughout Tippecanoe County.
Austin believes that everyone deserves quality legal representation and that the justice system should be accessible to all. Whether he's meeting with clients, preparing cases, or representing individuals in court, he is committed to treating every person with compassion, dignity, and respect.
A few fun facts about Austin:
🎓 He earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University Bloomington before receiving his J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
🏓 When he's not practicing law, you can often find him on the pickleball court enjoying a competitive match.
💼 His personal motto? He "stands on business"—bringing dedication, professionalism, and determination to everything he does (with a good sense of humor, too!).
At Legal Aid, we're a small but mighty team. Like many nonprofits, we all wear many hats to ensure our neighbors have access to justice when they need it most.
