Big futures begin with seeing what's possible.

This week, 19 girls stepped outside the classroom and into businesses across Lafayette for She Leads Lafayette, a day filled with career exploration, meaningful conversations, and a whole lot of inspiration!

From discovering how local businesses got their start to meeting women who turned their passions into careers, these young ladies learned that success doesn't always follow a straight path, and that's part of what makes the journey exciting.

Made possible through the generosity and support of Junior League of Lafayette, this experience was about more than exploring careers. It was about building confidence, making connections, and helping the next generation of women see the opportunities waiting for them.

A little imagination can go a long way!

There's something pretty special about watching kids see their own creativity come to life. That's exactly what makes the new Draw Alive exhibit at the Children's Museum of Acadiana such a fun experience for local children and families!

Thanks to the creativity and collaboration of the Children's Museum of Acadiana, LFT Fiber, and S1 Technology, kids have a new way to explore, create, and see their imaginations come to life.

Our very own Maddy had the chance to experience the exhibit firsthand and shared a little about what makes it so special.

Think about the people who helped shape who you are today. Who showed up for you?

A mentor. A teacher. A coach. A colleague. A family member. Sometimes we don’t fully recognize the impact someone had on our lives until years later.

That idea was at the heart of our Men in Mentorship conversation with Ruben D. Henderson III, Jerry Prejean, Marshal Reggie Thomas and Kenneth Boudreaux.

Different generations, industries and experiences came together around one shared message: none of us becomes who we are entirely on our own.

A few weeks later, the stories shared that day are still worth reflecting on. Because eventually, the question shifts from “Who showed up for me?” to “Who am I showing up for?”

We took some time to reflect on the conversation, what stayed with us and what it could mean for the next generation of young people across Acadiana.

As Big Brothers Big Sisters Month comes to a close, the matches keep going. 💚

For Ngozi and Abbie, mentorship has been built through years of conversations, laughter, new experiences, and simply showing up for one another.

Their relationship is a beautiful example of what happens when a young person has someone in their corner, and how being a Big can have just as much impact on the mentor as it does on the Little.

Today, we’re excited to share their story through Match Moments, our new series highlighting the real relationships and everyday moments at the heart of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

A day of football, fun and friendship at Cajun Field!

Earlier this month, we brought Bigs, Littles, families, volunteers and community supporters together for our Flag Football Mentorship Celebration. It was a day designed to celebrate mentorship, build connections and simply have some fun together.

From drills and games on the field to lunch, activities and plenty of smiles along the way, it was a great reminder that mentorship happens in moments just like these.

And a day like this takes a team.

A BIG thank you to the Lafayette High Mighty Lions, members of Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi and Phi Beta Sigma, and the UL Lafayette student-athletes who joined us on the field and generously gave their time throughout the day.

We’re also grateful to our partners at Ochsner Health and BIG 102.1 for showing up and helping make the day special for our Littles and families, along with friends from Gulf Coast Bank who joined us as volunteers.

Thank you to Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux for bringing the food and fun, and to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for working with us to bring this celebration to Cajun Field.

And we’re grateful to all of our Annual Mission Partners whose continued support helps make experiences like this possible for our Bigs, Littles and families throughout the year.

As Big Brothers Big Sisters of America brings Game On to life across the BBBS network, we’re excited to keep finding ways to bring mentorship, movement and play together right here in Acadiana.

Most of all, thank you to our Bigs, Littles and families who came out and made the day what it was.

Sometimes mentorship starts with simply seeing the potential in someone and choosing to show up for them.

For Ngozi, that someone was Abbie. What began as a match has grown into a relationship filled with encouragement, growth and plenty of moments that have made an impact on them both.
