Gage (Mr. G) Welton, our new Site Manager at Camp Bon Temps, just started with GSLPG last month.

As you can see, the campers out at Bon Temps were eager to give him a warm (or rather, ice cold) welcome!

Welcome to Girl Scouts, Mr. G! 🥶

Join Troop 318 as they flutter in for their Butterfly Daisy Day Camp. Campers will have a day full of fun and learning. Campers will work complete steps for badges, go on a hike and much more!! Troops from out of the area are more than welcome to camp overnight at Wawbansee, but you would be on your own as a troop and a P500 would need to be filled out.

***One adult would need to stay for the duration of the camp***

Location: Camp Wawbansee, 610 Girl Scout Rd., Simsboro, LA. 71275
Time: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm (registration starts at 8:00)
Cost: $35 for Daisies, $20 for Adults (lunch provided)
This is a fundraiser for Troop 318, not a council event.

An advanced first aider, by definition, is an adult with general first aid certification and additional health, safety, or emergency response expertise. For example, a physician, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, paramedic, military medic, person with wilderness training, certified lifeguard, or emergency medical technician (EMT) meets these requirements).

GSLPG is launching a Property Task Force to help thoughtfully review our council’s properties and guide future planning.

This group of volunteers, board members, staff, and community stakeholders will focus on understanding how our spaces support Girl Scouts today and how they can continue to do so in the years ahead.

This effort is about building a shared understanding of how our properties are used and supported, and how they can continue serving girls well now and into the future.

Applications are open now through June 30.

On June 1st, the Juniors of Troop 2101 delivered and set up their Bronze Award project at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital (BJACH).

The girls noticed there wasn't anything for kids to do in the Family Medicine waiting room, and used books to solve that problem!

They took in book donations from the military community, worked with the librarians at the Allen Memorial Library on Fort Polk, purchased new books as well as the bookshelves, built the bookshelves, and wrote a book titled The Fort Polk ABCs for their project. Their goal is to encourage kids to read and make the hospital feel like a welcoming place, especially for military kids who have just moved here.
